Tommy James got the title from the Mutual Life Insurance of New York which goes by MONY he liked the way it sounded and wrote this song about nothing, just a dance song.
There was an extra ad-lib line to this song. Ar least my friends and i always sang it. After every line in the first and third verse we'd yell "Hey!""Hey whtt?" "Get laid get fu**ed!" This song was played ONCE at a school dance and was banned forever. Dang prissies.

It is a nice cover song, but really I cannot stand this song! I just don't really care too much for it, I suppose.
i always thought this song was about a guy doing it with a girl and then saying stuff about it. anyways, it's a really great song and the music video is full of so much energy. it's one of those freat 80's rock videos that get you pumped.
Tommy James was about to record this song but he needed a chourus and he looked out the window and saw MONY which was an acronym for an insurance company, he thought it looked good so he threw it in. Apparently it was completely random. This version however, is ok, but it doesn't compare with Tommy James and the Shondells version at all. It's got some sexual inuendo in it, but mostly it's just a dance track.
