This song is about wanted to be a rock star, and then finding out what a screwed up career you've gotten into. The charm is that it seems like a love song.

It's about the pressures of fame and trying to keep success going when you've hit the top. At the time of the release, The Go-Go's were considered very accomplished in the field of music, and the label is pressuring them for more top 10 hits. These pressures can really stress a person out. It also didn't help that there were some underlying things that were starting to tear them apart. I will also say that it really features each member of the band in a wonderful manner.
