The Saints Are Coming Lyrics
It's been the ruin of many a poor boy, and God, I know I'm one.
how long now?
Until the clouds unroll and you come down,
the line went.
But the shadows still remain since your descent,
your descent.
how long now?
Until the clouds unroll and you come home,
the line went.
But the shadows still remain since your descent,
your descent.
I say no matter how I try, I realize there's no reply.
The saints are coming, the saints are coming.
Trombone Shorty
Living like birds in the Magnolia trees
Child on her rooftops
Mother on her knees
Her sign reads: I am an American
how long now?
Until the weather change condemns belief,
how long now?
When the night watchman lets in the thief
Whats wrong now?
I say no matter how I try, I realize that there's no reply
The saints are coming, the saints are coming
I say no matter how I try, I realize there's no reply
I say no matter how I try, I realize there's no reply
I say no matter how I try, I realize there's no reply

Great song. A re-vamped version of the skids song but with lyrics incorparated for victims of Hurricane Katrina.

i dont like this song. but i reckon it's about katrina and the current geo-political state that america and the rest of the world is currently in.

Before i heard everyone saying hurricane katrina, and i havent seen the film clip, i instantly thought this was about the solidiers in iraq and from a childs point of view just wanting his dad back

Someone correct me if I mess up any details. This song is a cover of a song by the Scottish Punk Band The Skids. The opening lines are from the traditional song "House of the Rising Sun", which was most famously covered by the Animals.
In my opinion, the song is about seperation and loss with the opening lines added to make it more relavent to New Orleans.

It is originally about the Scottish writer Richard Jobson's friend who was a brave British soldier serving in Northern Ireland who was murdered by the IRA terrorist organisation. Sorry to put a dampener on the situation.... For you Americans out there who might not know a lot about it, the IRA are the UK's Al Qaeda - they are responsible for the murder/torture of a lot of young British soldiers and Northern Irish Police Officers. This happened from the late 1960's to 2000's.

it's with green day. i don't like this song but i understand the deep meaning.

Wow MV85, what an observation. U2 and Green Day performed it live at a benefit for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Like said before its a re-make of The Skids and the lyrics have been altered a bit.
And who cares which bands are better than others, theres a thing called genre. They are both great bands and that is that.

By the way, before anyone says anything I love Green Day AND U2. I'm going to U2's concert in November! SCORE!

SCREW U2 BONO IS NOT AS GOOD AS BILLY, BUT I LOVE THIS SONG THO THEYRE BOTH GOOD TOGETHER! IM A GREENDAY FAN. What I think this song is about is hope! Pure hope. Rock and Punk and Rock/pop, Punk/Rock, Punk/pop, Punk/alternative, Rock/alternative, j-pop and j-rock are my fav genres.
obviously your veiws on punk rock must be extremely sold out if you like greenday and are dissin Bono... This is a good song, U2 will always have their place in musical icons and greenday will too although I hate sellouts. long and short of it is, greenday USED to be good...U2 are STILL great!
