The Conversation Is... Lyrics

I wander streets at night and hope to God to see your face
the flourescent billboards sell a wonderful life that doesn't exist anymore
the conversation is over.

What will I do if im wrong
Will I blame it on everyone else like I always do
so I'm a coward because of you

Are pills the only way to make myself complete again
they've become the only way to a wonderful life with a happy ending
the conversation is over.

What will I do if im wrong
Will I blame it on everyone else like I always do
I'm a coward because of you
I'm finding it hard to explain
why I think that i'm right again
I'd love someone else to blame
so i'm a coward because of you
and then you try to understand
what it takes to be a man
and then you look into your heart, it defines you

The conversation is over.

I can't believe no one has commented on this, it's so beautiful. I reckon it's about coming of age and taking responsibility for your actions instead of blaming everyone else.

"and then you try to understand what it takes to be a man and then you look into your heart, it defines you" :'-)

Since most of the album is about the death of his mother I think this song is about that too:

""The fluorescent billboards sell a wonderful life that doesn't exist anymore" We all know they do that but how can he possibly be happy without his mother?

"Will I blame it on everyone else like I always do" He blames everything on everyone, he's not man enough to take the responsibility of his actions, will he do the same with this?

"Are pills the only way to make myself complete again" Drugs can be used to help people with depression, make losing his mother completely ruined him, are they the only way to make him complete because he's broken without her

I think the rest is about finding himself again, becoming a man and moving on with his life, "finding it hard to explain why I think I'm right again", I don't know about anyone else but I struggle to prove my point all the time even when I really strongly believe something because I'm scared of everyone else's reactions and judgements so I blow it off and get upset, he could be the same?

Just my thoughts
