Out Of Control Lyrics
I say how long, you say how long
It was one dull morning
I woke the world with bawling
I was so sad, it was so bad
I had the opinion it was out of control
They make children, not like this one
I had the opinion it was out of control
I had the opinion it was out of control
Out of control
The man said childhood, it's in his childhood
And one day I'll die
The choice will not be mine
Will it be too late?
You can't fight it
I had the opinion it was out of control

i love U2 but i have to say that this song sounds really funny on "Boy" cuz Bono had such a weird voice. but it was cool on Elevation tour as Bono's voice is mature and the music is a bit better

I'll Qoute Bono's explanation from Michka Assayas' Bono: In Conversation:
(Interview took place on Bono's 44th birthday)
Michka: In light of the fact that today is a special day, do you have any memories of birthday celebrations way back in Ballymun, when your mother was still alive?
Bono: Oh, I don't seem to remember any. I don't have many memories of my childhood. [Pause] I think I can remember my eighteenth birthday, because I wrote a song on it, called "Out of Control". I remember holding the guitar, my brother's acoustic guitar. The fret action was a little out of whack, and I had to press quite hard on it. It wasn't a great lyrics, but it was like: Monday morning, eighteen years of dawning / I said "How long?," I said "How long?" / It was one dull morning / I woke the world with bawlng / I was so sad, they were so glad / I had the feeling it was out of control. It was just about realizing on your eighteenth birthday that the two big events in your life, which is your birth and your death, you don't have any say over.
Yep.

Exactly, Wild Flower! This song absolutely rocked on the Elevation tour (as did 11 O'Clock Tick Tock). It's funny how their old stuff sounds somewhat better now. I really have grown to love this song and it's always a joy to hear them play it.

"I fought fate, there's blood on the garden gate The man said childhood, it's in his childhood And one day I'll die The choice will not be mine Will it be too late? You can't fight it "
I think this songs about attempted suicide but the person realizes that only god should dicied when people die

I think it's about teenage angst bullshit. Bono explained in a concert I saw that he wrote this on his 18th birthday rightbefore he went to London to deliver U2's first demo.

Absolutely brilliant when they did it at Slane on the Elevation tour. Sends chills thru me. Love Adam's bass line

This song is about waking up on your 18th bday and realising that the two major decisions in life have nothing to do with you, birth and death. It's out of your control. An early U2 song brought back to life on the elevation tour and is now a u2 favourite. Bono's a legend. Live at Slane is amazing... gives you a sense of uplifting

davidjoseph is right, in no way is this about suicide. you could tell early this band. how many 18 year olds can write a lyric like "i fought fate, there's blood at the garden gate the man said childhood, it's in your childhood. one day i'll die the choice will not be mine, will it be too late, you cant fight FATE" you messed up there. amazing song about birth and death and just life is out of control

On Bonos 18th birthday he realised that only god decides who lives and who dies.

My favorite song by U2, hehe :). As for the meaning, i think everyones said it...
