Bob Dylan's Blues Lyrics
They are ridin' down the line
Fixin' ev'rybody's troubles
Ev'rybody's 'cept mine
Somebody musta tol' 'em
That I was doin' fine
With nothin' in your heads
I got a real gal I'm lovin'
And Lord I'll love her till I'm dead
Go away from my door and my window too
Right now
See no sports car run
I don't have no sports car
And I don't even care to have one
I can walk anytime around the block
Up and down the street
With my hat in my hand
And my boots on my feet
Watch out so you don't step on me
You want to be like me
Pull out your six-shooter
And rob every bank you can see
Tell the judge I said it was all right
Yes!

this was from his second album. his first was commercially unsuccessful so i'm pretty sure misanthrope's meaning is incorrect. i think it is just about his trouble being himself. he wants to lead a simple and worryfree life but he can't because others won't let him or don't accept it? not sure :)

I think jassss and misanthrope62 are both correct. The last verse seems to imply that he's a nobody, but not in a negative way. But the rest of the song seems to be about being himself amidst a society that doesn't value the same things. Just my two cents
Hence, "Bob Dylan's Blues" :)

dylan is humurous in this song yet very satyrical. i think its a stab at the publics response to his music and practically thrusting all this responsibility onto his shoulders about speaking for a generation and whatnot.

I think it's about freedom. Like from the point of view of someone who sees so many people tied and slaved to so many chains...when really, there aren't any laws. You are free.
