Everything Is Broken Lyrics
Broken threads, broken springs,
Broken idols, broken heads,
People sleeping in broken beds.
Ain't no use jiving
Ain't no use joking
Everything is broken.
Broken switches, broken gates,
Broken dishes, broken parts,
Streets are filled with broken hearts.
Broken words never meant to be spoken,
Everything is broken.
Something else just hit the ground
Broken buckles, broken laws,
Broken bodies, broken bones,
Broken voices on broken phones.
Take a deep breath, feel like you're chokin',
Everything is broken.
Things fall to pieces in my face
Broken treaties, broken vows,
Broken pipes, broken tools,
People bending broken rules.
Hound dog howling, bull frog croaking,
Everything is broken.

Seems like a shot at how busy everybody is all the time. Also, I first heard this song by Kenny Wayne Shephard. He does a pretty decent job on it.

Everything and EVERYONE is broken. I've had several friends deal with breast cancer this year. Nothing is more beautiful to me than a person who has gone through a rotten experience and did not allow the trauma to break their spirit. When a person can actually see the positive side of an awful situation and emerge stronger maybe - if there is "god" - this is "god" at work. Seeing the merit in the outcome of a "tragedy" is part of the beauty of living life large. You have hope and that in itself is "healing".
We are all broken but we can choose how to move forward. Bob Dylan will always be The King to me. :-)

I didn't even know this song existed until I heard R L Burnside do it. He did and great job with it.

I heard it off Essential Bob Dylan Disc 2 which I burned from a friend...kinda reminds me of the Clash's "Brand New Caddilac" when it starts off. A cool song, makes me want to put on some dark shades and stand on a street corner with a flask and cigarettes. Appropriate harmonica solo.

Pretty clear. People bending broken rules. All the songs on this album are pretty dark. Oh mercy.

love it. ain't no use jiving, ain't no use joking. if we want healing we first have to admit everything is broken.
