Eriatarka Lyrics
Hadn't found the speaking so wrong
Is it wrong
Of pavolov lore
They ran rampant through the floors
Is this wrong
Feels so wrong
Happened on a respirator
In the basements
Are they gone are they gone
Stung the slang of a gallows bird
Rationed a dead letter pure
Trackmarked amoeba lands craft
Cartwheel of scratches
Dress the tapeworm as pet
Tenticles smirk please
Flinched the cocooned meat
Infra-recon forgets
Now there are those who find
Comfort in the breathing
Wrong-is it wrong
It houses the watchful eyes
They're panting in a pattern in droves
Are they gone
Happened on a respirator bet
In the basements
Is it gone
Are they gone
Stung the slang of a gallows bird
Sanctioned a dead letter pure
trackmarked amoeba lands craft
cartwheel of scratches
dress the tape worm as pets
tentacles smirk please
flinch the cacooned meat
infra-recon forgets
evaporated the fur
because it covers them
if you only knew the plans they had for us
evaporated the fur
because it covers them
if you only knew the plans they had for us
They used to have pulses in them
But impulse has made the strong
They used to have pulses in them
But impulse has made them strong
Evaporated the fur
Because it covers them
If you only knew the plans they had for us
Trackmarked amoeba lands craft
Cartwheel of scratches
Dress the tapeworm as pets
Tentacles smirk please
Flinch the cacooned meat
Infra-reco forgets
gotta be a way
Of getting out
Are you just growing old
Trackmarked amoeba lands craft
Cartwheel of scratches
Dress the tapeworm as pets

I feel I have to put my two cents in on this one, I love these lyrics too much not to. Eriatarka is short for Eriatarka House of Facial and Muscular Corrections, the office of Dr. Wolfram Tarant, MD. Tarant has an unspecified number of dog heads for hands which gnaw and rip flesh apart and then lick the wounds (I believe their saliva has some sort of healing quality). This is Tarant’s method of surgery, which he uses to turn Cerpin into Clavietika Los Tres Ojos.
“And there are those who hadn’t found the speaking so wrong” The dogs can talk, apparently with beautiful voices according to Tarant “Is it wrong” This line is repeated often throughout. I believe it represents Cerpin’s skepticism of Dr. Tarant’s intentions. “Of Pavlov lore They ran rampant though the floors” A reference to the mongrel tarants on Wolfram’s wrists. Pavlov was a Russian psychologist who discovered classical conditioning by making dogs salivate to a bell ring. “Is this wrong Feels so wrong” Again, this marks Cerpin’s confusion and doubt “Happened on a respirator In the basements” Just like it sounds, the surgery took place in the basements of Eriatarka and Cerpin was put on a respirator. “Are they gone” This is Cerpin either wondering where the mongrel tarants are during a pause in the surgery, or panicking over his missing body parts. “Stung the slang of a gallows bird” There’s a reference in the storybook to the songs of gallows birds when Cerpin is sentenced by the lepers “Rationed a dead letter pure” Dead letter may refer to the sentence made by the lepers, which is made irrelevant by tremulant interventions “Trackmarked amoeba lands craft” Refers to Cerpin’s travels the different vessels he took before his arrival at Eriatarka: amoebas, a train, and a submarine which landed on the river bank where the house is “Cartwheel of scratches” May specifically reference the boxcar of may represent a sum of the injuries inflicted on Cerpin “Dress the tapeworm as pet” ????Maybe Cerpin is the tapeworm, since he has a very low impression of himself, and dress as pet refers to the surgery which turns him into a Clavietka, which is all planned out by the tremulants thus making the Clavietika their pet? “Tentacles smirk please” Another reference to the mongrel tarants “Flinched the cocooned meat” When Cerpin arrived in the ESP he was encased in a cocoon-like structure “Infra-recon forgets” After the surgery, Cerpin loses his memory “Evaporated the fur Because it covers them” A reference to the Clavietika killing the phyxias, who wore fur loincloths as clothing. “If you only know the plans they had for us” Either Tarant referencing the plans that the tremulants have for him and Cerpin, or perhaps a motive of the tremulants for killing the lepers and unleashing Moatilliatta on Topiltzin “They used to have pulses in them but impulse had made them strong” ??? I have no idea
Only people who have read the storybook can truly understand this explanation and this song for that matter
i'm about 101% certain that Pavlov was a physiologist, but there's always wiki for that

i think it's the part that Cerpin or Julio is in a artificial respirator in the basement of his mind. he starts to live in a psychodelic dream and lots of rare adventures...i guess :-p

wait...I'm completely new to the Mars Volta...what book, and Cerpin and Julio??

this is for musicispowerful... The whole TMV album is based on a book that cedric wrote about his friend Julio represented by the character Cerpin Taxt in the book. He was a drug addict, had an overdose, and went into a coma. When he got out of the coma he killed himself.

no, vaya, the album came first. the book is based on the album. which is based on julio. ANYWAY, i think this song, espcially since ERIATARKA is "homeground" in...greek, i think, that cerpin is starting to give in and accept his comatorium, he's beginning to feel more at home.

Badass song...I'm pretty sure this is where Cerpin is being operated on by Dr. Wolfgang and is turning into the Clavietika. The name of the house where he is being operated on is called Eriatarka, so maybe the connection is that for the first time Cerpin feels safe and at home in his crazy trip. Also, this is the first part of the story where he awakens from his coma for a few seconds I believe (don't hold me on that..not positive).

.... vaya came out first? Kid B, what are you talking about... if I remember right Vaya came out before Julio died. And it is based on the book. Thats pretty much well defined fact.

^ Kid B was talking about the user Vaya, not about the ATD-I CD.

CAN SOMEONE PLEASE TELL ME WHAT THE MARS VOLTA BOOK IS CALLED..... PLEASE PLEASE

or is there not a book ? comment ppl please
