this song, along with the next one, is part of a dreamy vision in which Claudio is home with Newo and Apollo, her dog, after everything happens and is telling her the story of what heppend in the past (which at this point in the timeline is the present). it may sound confusing, but it is a dreamy kind of vision thing, so when you hear the phone/comlink ring in track one and Newo Ikkin answers the phone, the ship sound is Claudio (one of Coheed and Cambria's four children) returning to her in the future and when he gets there he says hello to the the dog, and turns to Newo and says "where should i begin?" anyway, this part of the vision is trough Jesse's eyes (Coheed's brother) as he prepares to defend Coheed and Cambria's other three children, Maria, Mathew, and Josephine, who are locked in a hiding space in the floor, from an attacking army who wishes to kill Coheeds children cause they may have inherited some of his powers and could still save the universe. Jesse is a little jealous of this because he wants to be the hero. Mathew, the youngest, has some of Coheed's power (thats what that line is about). The "vision that bears the gift" is Claudio. Will is Coheed's real name. when he says the line "for you, i'd do anything,.." he is talking to Coheed. the line "for them i would kill anything.." is still to Coheed, talking about Coheed's children. the chorus is directed to the small army that Jesse has with him "man your battlestations, we'll have you home/dead pretty soon" he knows they are not likely to survive thisattack. (a quick tidbit about claudio, anytime he writes about "coming home" or "going to sleep" its almost always referring to death). the "seventh turning hour" line expresses Jesse's doubts about the upcoming battle and his ability to protect the troops and the children. great song. the actual attack comes in the next song where Jesse gets to be the hero he wanted to be.

When fed the line Man Your Own Jackhammers, Jesse is shouting out an order for everyone to man their Anti-Aircraft guns, (jackhammer is slang for AA Gun)

The line saying "We'll have you dead pretty soon" is referring to the impending doom of this battle, they are fighting a losing battle and have no chance to win.
Jesse has love only for Chase, an IRO-Bot, but Will wants to be loved as well, the verse saying "ill kill anything, cut the throats of babies...." is will saying all of the things that he would do just for Jesse to love him.
When the music basically stops, this is when the battle is about to start, when it picks up and the chorus is going the battle is going on, Jesse is yelling out orders...the battle has begun...
Mmmkay, I think I actually know what's going on here...
This song is done from two different perspectives: Jesse, The Inferno, and Sizer, his IRO-bot son. This song is basically Jesse preparing for battle against Wilhem Ryan's righthand man and war guy (for lack of a better term) Mayo Deftinwolf. Jesse and his 4 IRO-bot children, known as the pioneers, are getting ready for the battle and are using weapons known as jackhammers, which Jesse created. The children are Sizer, "...her favorite...", Chase, "...the one they call the vision who bares the gift..." She has the mind of a 20 year-old woman, but is trapped in the body of a 4 year-old girl. She is the only character who can comminucate with the writer. She is also the strongest of all of the pioneers. The other children are Michael, "...the pilot..." named after Michael Todd of the band, and Travis, "...the navigator..." named after Travis Stever of the band.
So, now with all these knowledge, Chase is clearly Jesse's favorite, being the strongest fighter and the least likely to be suspected, due to her weak and innocent appearance. Sizer, however, being a deformed IRO-bot, is extremely jealous of Chase's relationship with Jesse, "...Jealous envy for the youngest one To be the hero is all I'll ask Can I be buried here among the dead? With room to honor me here in the end You'll be better off too soon You'll be better off when you get home..." All he wants is to be loved and respected by his father. After 7 hours of preparing, the Red Army is finally approaching in the distant, and the battle will soon begin...!

During the timeframe of IKSSE3, Coheed and Cambria are both dead. Claudio goes into hiding because of everything, and is later informed that his parents were killed.

A dragonfly puts a serum into Coheed. When he lays eye contact on Cambria, the serum is activated, which makes him become the evil Monstar.

yeah, thats what coheed and cambria are all about, i read in an Alternative Press magazine that Claudio was writing this huge novel that is like his own version of the bible- and the CDs that they release are based around the story

this is my absolute favorite 'heed song, when they open with the ring in return recording and go into iksse3 its just unbelievable
This song is what got me hooked to Co & Ca they are great the story is great and i can't wait untilt he graphic novel comes out. SHould clear alot fo things up about the story
