"The lyrics are suggesting that the person singing the song is singing it to someone else who he has been in a relationship with that's broken down," Gray explained. "It's like, 'Meet me on the other side of this' kind of thing. The other side of this turmoil and heartbreak. The power of the lyrics suggests, [however,] 'Meet me on the other side of death.' It's a bit of a call into the void. That's where the song gains its power. And that's what seems to have come out stronger than all the lyrics."
"The Other Side" was the last song Gray recorded for the album and was done much more quickly than the others were. His vocals on the album are actually from the first take of the song, when Gray was at his most revealing. "When you catch yourself off guard, you're really blown away," he said.
to me it means that he is in a sort of relationship with a girl, but they are living two seperate lives. he really loves her, but they are to different to make it work in real life. she has feelings for him,and he has made her believe that this is really something tohold on to.but he realises that it wont work... so i think "meet me on the other side" means that in time, when things are different,it could work...
Beautiful. Haunting. Like Glyercine by Bush, it's one of my favorite songs that I cannot listen to for very long before I begin to tear up.

Such a haunting song, so full of pain and anguish...
Its about him being madly inlove with someone, but recieving nothing in return, so much so that it drives him to take his own life, and so the next time he will see her in "on the other time".
When he says "We'll not undo what has been done Or change the moment when it's gone" he is saying that she will not realise how much he loved her until he is gone, and it will be too late for her to save his life......

The song describes death of a loved one perfectly to me. That, or losing someone in general for a long period of time. Probably one of the most lyrically perfect songs in my opinion ever written. The person is trying to deal with all this loss and make sense of it, but he's just not strong enough to hold the emotions in. Then in the second verse he apologizes for his wrong and mentions that no matter what anyone does, no matter how fast we run, we'll never escape the things we've done. I've never seen it put so perfectly, though.
The final verse is the best. He says that he knows it would be crazy to offer this person help because he doesn't really have a leg to stand on, but he will anyway. Yet it's not going to do any good and they both know it. The comparison of love to the dark symbol of a raven is fantastic.
Then comes the final heart-felt admission that he still, after all that he's gone through, and all his years searching, doesn't know what love really is. It's a testament to how we will never really know what love is.
Beautiful. Haunting. I dig that piano riff - it's recorded raw and lonesomely. You can feel the emotions of pain echo out through out the speakers as the Narrator would rather die than live without a person they love. The song could mean "meet me on the otherside" of a bad riff in a relationship, but the mortal tones of "meet me on the otherside" of life, are far more powerful.
tihs song is great,i just made a cd with this song and his other song disaperring world,they kick ass. i think its about someone in love and its not working out so he wants to get over the problems or the other side
