Most Likely You Go Your Way (And I'll Go Mine) Lyrics
And you're thinkin' of me,
But you know you could be wrong.
You say you told me
That you wanna hold me,
But you know you're not that strong.
I just can't do what I done before,
I just can't beg you any more.
I'm gonna let you pass
And I'll go last.
Then time will tell just who fell
And who's been left behind,
When you go your way and I go mine.
And you don't deserve me,
But you know sometimes you lie.
You say you're shakin'
And you're always achin',
But you know how hard you try.
Sometimes it gets so hard to care,
It can't be this way ev'rywhere.
And I'm gonna let you pass,
Yes, and I'll go last.
Then time will tell just who fell
And who's been left behind,
When you go your way and I go mine.
He's gonna call on you.
But he's badly built
And he walks on stilts,
Watch out he don't fall on you.
For tellin' stories
That you know I believe are true.
You say ya got some
Other kinda lover
And yes, I believe you do.
You say my kisses are not like his,
But this time I'm not gonna tell you why that is.
I'm just gonna let you pass,
Yes, and I'll go last.
Then time will tell who fell
And who's been left behind,
When you go your way and I go mine.

I'm just writing here because no one else has. Impossible, considering that this is the best farewell-and-good-luck song ever, even better than "Don't think twice". I know that the middle part is refered to a play about Rimbaud's life, so I would appreciate some background on that.

I don't know if I like it better than "Don't Think Twice." They kind of seem to say the same thing, with vastly different tones. Damn good song, though.
Which part refers to a play about Rimbaud? I didn't catch that.

By that time Dylan went to see a play about Rimbaud's life, and there was a judge who walked on stills. I don't know more than that, that's why I'm asking

this song is a perfect depiction of actions speaking louder than words. she says all these things, but never follows through on them. he's decided that it's time for him to move on and see where it takes him. good luck and goodbye indeed.

It's been said that Blonde On Blonde was partly inspired by Edie Sedgwick, and this line is probably the most obvious to me in reference to her drug use:
"You say you're shakin' And you're always achin', But you know how hard you try."

I always thought "let you pass" was "lick you ass".
Years of immature amusement.. all a lie.

I think these lyrics have been interpreted slightly incorrectly. I think the correct line is 'Time will tell, who has failed'.
