Gravity Lyrics
Is that the name you're meant to have
For me to call
Look love
They've given up believing
They've turned aside our stories of the gentle fall
Don't you drink their poison too
These are the scars that words have carved
On me
That's the name we've long held back
From the core of truth
I am turning in revolution
These are the scars that silence carved
On me
No not the same place
This is the same place, love
No not the same place we've been before
I am a constant satellite
Of your blazing sun
My love
I obey your law of gravity
This is the fate you've carved on me
Your law of gravity
This is the fate you've carved on me
On me

hmmmmm, i actually DONT see this as a couple. instead, two people in a situation where they obviously love each other but they're not actually a couple yet, for whatever reason. you can tell that they definetely have something, but they've chose to ignore it:
Hey love That's the name we've long held back From the core of truth
You can see how this affects vienna, though they've chosen to go their sperate ways, she'll always revolve around him, her life will always be cnetered around his:
I am a constant satellite Of your blazing sun I obey your law of gravity This is the fate you've carved on me Your law of gravity

I always thought that it was about someone falling in love with an outsider, with the story being told from the outsider's point of view. The outsider wants others to know about the relationship ("Hey love, is that the name you're meant to have for me to call" seems as if she's never spoken the words out loud, and "these are the scars that silence carved" could mean keeping the relationship quiet is upsetting her), but the other is fearful of his friends' reactions. She is warning him not to listen to him, as they will make up rumours ("poison").
The satellite around a blazing sun gives you the image of someone being distanced from everyone else, but still drawn to them by an invisible link (as they do not yet know of her relationship with one of them being the force of gravity pulling her towards them).

I agree with the whole (not yet) couple bit. It reminds me a lot of a Romeo/Juliet situation. They are meant to call each other "love", others are trying to "poison" them against each other, they have to "hold back" their feelings for each other. With the idea of orbiting and gravity... it's like her world revolves around him and (like gravity) their love is something that is natural an cannot be helped.

Vienna explained this one at a show last year. She wrote this for a friend of hers who was in an on-again, off-again relationship, trying to get into her mind and understand what it felt like, what was actually between her and her sometimes-boyfriend. According to her friend, she got it all wrong =P Doesn't change the fact that it's a stunningly beautiful song, though.
Her roommate in college. She also explained that the boyfriend kept denying that it was that way, but later on, he got frustrated that their relationship was, in fact, how it is in the song.

i love this song, er, and no1 is gonna read this... but, ya, im not entirely sure what its about...

Hi there! I read it.
I see this song as a couple trying to go on when they are falling about. They've forgotten the cute names they called each other, they've forgotten the fantasy they had. Even others see it: "they've given up believing". But this couple somehow think they may work things ou despite the fact they are going in circles.
Maybe, maybe not. People in love have effect on others. Just because one couples life sucks doesn't mean that's par for the course.

I see this as a couple, they are still in love with each other and the narrator is fighting to maintain their relationship against the wishes of many others, "Don't you drink their poison too." - telling her lover not to submit to the "poison" in the thoughts of others.
Yaah. That's it! Love this song :3

Hey love I am a constant satellite Of your blazing sun
I like thatv line.. it makes me thing that she loves himand feels like he is her centre of her universe.. like the sun is the centre of ours... thats just my interpretation though
I

Yeah, definitely a song about a couple.
Seems to me the singer is saying that this person she loves has affected her so much that she can't be without him despite what people around them are saying about them.
But in spite of how she feels, he's turning away from her, and it hurts her.
"These are the scars that silence carved on me."

I love this song, especially the final bit:
Hey love I am a constant satellite Of your blazing sun My love I obey your law of gravity
That, to me, is just so, so powerful. Especially the way she sings it. I saw her live in Seattle a few months back and she did this song... I cried during this part.
