I'll Keep It with Mine Lyrics
At any cost
But how long, babe
Can you search for what’s not lost?
Everybody will help you
Some people are very kind
But if I can save you any time
Come on, give it to me
I’ll keep it with mine
If you might think I’m odd
If I say I’m not loving you for what you are
But for what you’re not
Everybody will help you
Discover what you set out to find
But if I can save you any time
Come on, give it to me
I’ll keep it with mine
At half past ten
But it’ll be back tomorrow
Same time again
The conductor he’s weary
He’s still stuck on the line
But if I can save you any time
Come on, give it to me
I’ll keep it with mine

This one's about Nico...that's why he gave it to her. I love Nico. I love Bob Dylan too.
@RianbowMoon Sorry, Judy Collins recorded it be for Nick. Nick's own linear notes say that.

Has anyone else ever noticed the part where it's like "What you were doing."...that part always makes me freak out hahaha.

Ahahahahaha! HyperHippy, you are talking about the rehearsal version from the Bootleg series...... :$

"i can't help it if you might think i am odd" hehe i love this song. catchy as hell

I have read that he wrote it about and for Judy Collins.

You will search, babe, at any cost But how long, babe, can you search for what is not lost?
I think the song is addressed by the singer to a woman he is in love with. The woman is looking for love, but the singer says that what she's looking for is not "lost", because he can give her what she needs.
Everybody will help you Some people are very kind But if I can save you any time Come on, give it to me I'll keep it with mine
Each partner the woman meets will help her in her quest, but the singer says that he can "save her time" finding what she's looking for. He asks her to "give" that time to him and he'll "keep it with mine" -- she should stay with him and spend their time together.
I can't help it if you might think I am odd If I say I'm loving you not for what you are, but for what you're not
This is open to interpretation, but anyway it sounds nice.
The train leaves at half past ten But it'll be back in the same old spot again The conductor, he's still stuck on the line But if I can save you any time ...
Here the train represents the woman leaving the singer, but she always ends up back where she started again. The singer says the train conductor may be stuck traveling the same line, but the woman is free to get off the train and stay with him.
