Valo Yössä Lyrics
Yön ainoa valopilkku
Tuhto topattu moottorivene odottaa
Minä menen
Valhetta vatvovat karkeat sanat
Paksu lompakko
Helppo on lempeä pyytää
Kerjääjää
Alla silmien himerrys hyytää
Käsi hamuaa lautturin viittaa
En osaa elämää syyttää, en kiittää
Se jääköön, en piittaa
Ui uuttera lautta
Tuhannen kapakan kautta

what the hell? no one has written about this one? i love the songs that valo sings in finnish, especially this one. its a great song. very soothing and interesting.

I love this song. It has a spooky touch in it and Nurmio's lyrics are of course just genious. I love the ending "kohdusta hautaan, ui uuttera lautta... tuhannen kapakan kautta"

do you guys know what the english lyrics are whenyou seethem its like whoa i didnt think ville was singing about this

HERE THEY ARE . . . .
On top of the taxi flashes the only light of the night The crammed rowing seat of the mother ship waits I go Gloomy thought breaking through Rude words stammering lies Thick wallet It's easy to ask for love The beggar Before the very eyes Appearances grow numb The light of the scythe cutting houses A hand searching for the driver's coat I do not know how to condemn, nor thank life May it remain, I do not care From the womb to the grave The raft travels steady Thousands from pub to pub

I think the song makes more sense in Finnish...I am trying to picture a meaning to the english lyrics and its like a bunch of words thrown together...i still love it though lol...

amazing...

I fking love song! like a poem:)

i love this song though i don't know much finnish but thanks to brandon lee we now have translations. I like the song because it reminds of 'Snow White' I don't know why but it's a really nice song :)

There are many misunderstandings in that translation. Here's mine:
The only speck of light in the night flashes on top of a taxi.
Padded thwart of that boat of nuts and bolts waits, I go.
Murky thoughts come forth, rough words devise lies.
Thick wallet... It's easy to look for love.
A beggar feels a chill from the glow in these frosty eyes.*
Scythes of light** mow down houses,
Hand goes for the cape of the ferryman.
I can't blame nor thank life. Let it be, I don't care.
The diligent ferry swims from womb to the grave,
stopping at a thousand pubs.
- To hear it as "alla silmien" is a common mistake. What it really says, is "hallasilmien"
** Metaphor for the driving lights of the taxi

This is the original version from 1979 by Tuomari Nurmio. The singer wrote both the lyrics and the melody. His voice is, shall we say, an acquired taste. But it fits much better for the kind of a man that this song is about.
