allt virðist vera breytt
ég gægist út
en er svo ekki neitt
á náttfötum hún
à draumi fann svo
ég hékk á koðnun?
og er hún, inni hér
og tölti götuna
sé ekk(ert) út
og nota stjörnurnar
sit(ur) endalaust hún
og klifrar svo út.
komdu út
mitt hjartað, slá
úfið hár.
sem skyldu-skrá.

one of the best songs on the album...especially when it explodes at the end. I wish I could see it live - it would be a great opener.

Oh my LORD this song is like the musical equivalent of an orgasm.
The lyrics don't seem to matter when listening to Sigur Ros, the voice is just like another instrument in itself, but after hearing the English translation I think that writing about finding the sun is just one of the sweetest things a song has ever been written about.
This song is simply out of this world. RealSugar, I am SO jealous of you! I would love to see this sung live.

Jonsi said this song is about a boy who wakes up to find the sun has disappeared, and the world is engulfed in darkness. He looks for the sun, and finds it at the end.

I dont mean to sound gay or anything...but i rather enjoy the fact that i have no idea what they are singing about. it allows for so much. i noticed after listening to one of their cds, so much disappointment when switching back to the radio. so im stuck in a siguir ros zone. oh well hopefully it keeps me sane.

yes thatll do for translation :)

I thinks it's impossible NOT to tap your foot or bob your head or something like that during the climax. I try not to, but I always need to move in some way.

omg, that song was almost killing me when i was at the concert. the very last song, with the hall completely dark, only flashes of light again and again, and then this end and jonsi's voice. god, this was one of the times when i forgot what i was doing. i simply fell into trance. awesome song.

I love the marching, underwater pace to this song. Makes me feel as if i'm in a dream, searching, and moving in a direction toward enlightenment.
Random.: The sun is simple truth (reality), and love. (same thing) Whether it be lost in your lovers eyes as she dreams at night, (where the ‘sun shines’) Or confused with the endless night of existence, When the sun moves out of dreamland, it shines brightest for 'us'.

Reading the lyrics, I would say it's a love song, yes. But it is also incredibly spiritual. It seems to be from the point of view from a man who's girlfriend has gone missing and died long ago, yet he does not know she is dead although he's given up looking. One night he has a dream about a place he would find her, and goes on an incredible quest-like journey trying to find her. The search for her occupies him until his last breath, then he dies and awakens from the nightmarish reality he became used to on earth, and in the cosmic limbo he finds her. They become one as they always wanted to be, as all lovers want to be, and rise higher and higher until they go into the glowing sun, which is the climax of the song. The ending may be the simplification of thought and the ending of consciousness after the death experience, or being reborn in the next life. I prefer to think the latter.

normally i'd agree with that, but in this case, knowing at least the context does the song so much justice... finding the hidden sun in all its glory just fits the climactic ending so perfectly.
