Where Is The Line? Lyrics
New wave mannequins packin’ haircuts, instead of packin’ guns
Magazines form overseas, won’t teach you how to feel
They trade in their hearts for indie rock charts to tell them what is real
Gave them a right to… ostracize
Out of the woodwork… art aficionados
Answer one question…
Between your fashion and your mind
Where is the line? Where is the line?
‘Cause some of us aren’t blind!
Where is the line? Where is the line?
To be your self is not a crime
Where is the Line? Where is the line?
‘Cause some of us aren’t blind!
She sells street cred with no smile, at the local record store
She’s acting the role and dressing the part, pretending to be bored
The truth about conformity, is it bites without a sting
Trends come and go, but when your alone it doesn’t mean a thing
Gave them a right to… ostracize
Out of the woodwork… art aficionados
Answer one question…
Between your fashion and your mind
Where is the line? Where is the line?
‘Cause some of us aren’t blind!

Here today, but forgotten tomorrow!

I see two messages in this song:
1) Don't be mainstream, be yourself, come out for what you believe, listen to what you like and let others know what you like.
2) Don't be different, just to be different. Act like yourself under any circumstance. Don't be a poser, cause generally the non-posers hate them.
I am neither Metal nor Punk, I like a lot of Music styles including stuff like Linkin Park, Trust Company, etc. but also Anthrax, Killswitch Engage, etc. I'm a Greenday-fan, but still mourn about Dimebag Darrel too. I fit into neither of those groups, I've been kicked out of bands because I didn't adjust to their 'image', I've been beat-up by others who thought of me as a poser. Even if it seems hard, be yourself. You'll feel better and the people close to you will appreciate you for being genuine and pure.
ur my new best friend. i have no clue what people consider me. ive been called goth, emo, punk, rocker chick, freak, metalhead, all of that. ive gotten picked on too, becuase people think im a poser. im just me, you know?

not exactly about the meaning of the song.. but I love the artwork on this page in the booklet.
I guess that it is relating to how people try to be "different" by pretending to be someone else who they aren't. And the result is, in a manner of speaking, a shelf full of "iNdie-cred" Fred's, or empty clones of one another because it is trendy to be "different" and not because it is what they want or it is who they are.

This song is about conformity...
Urban Hipster, the new gangster… frontin’ by the club New wave mannequins packin’ haircuts, instead of packin’ guns
The typical "gangster". The guy who acts street and talks street. But he lives in a nice house/has never experienced what the life is REALLY about. He isn't packing guns he is just concerned with his image.
Where is the line? Where is the line? Between your fashion and your mind Where is the line? Where is the line? ‘Cause some of us aren’t blind!
He is saying how people dress and then act that way to the extreme. He is also saying that some people see right through the pathetic act and know what you really are.
The truth about conformity, is it bites without a sting Trends come and go, but when your alone it doesn’t mean a thing
That's pretty straight forward
Here today, but forgotten tomorrow!
You won't be remembered
Be yourself
....errr

I believe this song is about how people act when they are in public. How they try to do what is cool or what it latest trend is. Yet when they are home or alone they dont really act like that. I think its about how people try to be fake and something that theyre not.
eh. im like the school goth/punk/emo or whatever the hell you want to call me. my grandma sees the same thing as my peers. loud, strange, dark, yet relatively upbeat.

well... i think that this song is about people who dress and act the same singling people who are different out and making them feel excluded. "When did they assume putting on a costume gave them the right to ostracize?"

I think it's about how everything new + original gets turned into a mainsteam trend + also how people shouldn't feel inferior if they don't follow the trends.

I read in an interview this song's about the hordes of lame scenesters ruining the music scene etc etc etc

This is about the anti-conformity fashion becoming popular and how those who dress that way to be cool are just as bad as those who dress like gangstas to be cool.

Very good song. It is so real.
