Begin to Hope Lyrics
And all the colors start to change beneath the light
you might forget that the worlds so sad
You might forget that things are awful bad
And it's alright
The fact that they're plastic shouldn't deter you at all
Just grab your sharpie and write your message on the wall:
"I was here, yeah, I was here."
And still we might forget to stand up straight
We might forget that we should never wait
And it's alright
The fact that they own us shouldn't deter us at all
Just grab your sharpie and write your message on the wall:
"Yeah, I was here, I was here."
And I won't be back until you know my name
'Cause we're not all the same thing
And it's alright
The fact that they're plastic shouldn't deter you at all
I grab my sharpie and wrote my message on the wall:
"Yeah, Regina was here."
And I won't be back, 'cause its a lovely day
And none of us know how long we've got to stay
To open all the change beneath the light
And all us start to change beneath the open
All begin to light
And all the colors begin to open
Light and change
Begin to light and hope
And start to change beneath the light
And all the colors start to change beneath
Begin to hope and all the light begin to change
Begin to hope

plastic knowledge tree apples? is she denying the spiritual+fallen nature of man?

ok ok... wow ok i've got alot to say on this... first of all WOW i've never heard this song but i want it! second it sounds like she somehow managed to steal my thoughts! when i figure out how she did that i'll try to steal hers! next this song is amazing. listen to the message she's trying to portrait and that message is different to everyone since we aren't all clones yet. i feel like this song is talking about the secret of life. everyone's searching and searching and getting frustrated when they don't find what they want, but i believe that all you need to do is actually think about what you want and stop ... STOP! focussing on the negative, evil, bad, hurtful, whatever you wanna call it, but in general its the things you don't want.
Begin to Hope and all the colours start to change beneath the light, you might forget that the worlds so sad. You might forget that things are awful bad, and its alright,
right there its all right there! if you don't see the bad then it doesn't exist to you. now if everyone where to do this then would they hear the tree falling in the woods?!?!? :) think about that and for christ sakes try and be happy people :D thank you come again :)
"Like she somehow managed to steal my thoughts!"

Zaner, it's almost like you managed to steal mine when you wrote that. There are these moments in her songs that just feel like they came right out of my head. Especially:

I was here but now I've gone to take a walk And I won't be back, 'cause its a lovely day
I was here but now I've gone to take a walk And I won't be back, 'cause its a lovely day
I actually took that walk. It was just far too lovely out to spend it in an office building. My sharpie was email, but close enough. I just walked around town all afternoon. And the fact that...

And none of us know how long we've got to stay
I took that walk, too. Right after an earthquake, from the same office building. I went to see my girlfriend, because both her work and her apartment were pretty torn up. We just walked around town, and oddly enough that was also a lovely day.
There was this feeling to both of those days, and it's in this song.
There are plenty more instances of Regina stealing my thoughts. Maybe I'll start a list of them. Her words are just so lucid. I can only hope she starts writing novels someday as well.

I wish this was on the album. I don't understand, did she like name it after a song she almost put on? This is a great song.

i donnoe she have dis song...

Jesus Christ, if you people are going to submit lyrics, learn how to spell properly first. THEY'RE is not the same as THEIR.

Strange that this never appeard on the Begin to Hope album...

i seriously didn't think this was real
but it is and i'm glad.
"I was here but now i've gone, to take a walk and i won't be back, cause its a lovely day. And none of us know how long we've got to stay."

I think it's really more an assertion that you can create your own sense of reality without depending on someone else's rules or definitions. Thus the image of writing on a blank wall. If she's denying the idea of original sin, it's probably based on the same idea. It's pretty depressing to think that as humans we're already predestined for sin. It's really our attitude and actions that dictate whether or not we're sinful creatures.

That's funny. I got the opposite impression from zaner. I feel this song is depicting ignoring the bad in the world as a negative thing to do; if no one acknowledges that there's a problem, how will things ever change? "Just grab your sharpie and write your message on the wall/I was here" is asking you to make a difference; don't leave without making your mark on the world.

i love the way she sings "regina was here, regina was here" I find so nice that she mentions her name in her songs
