The Mating Game

This song is all about the roller coaster of dating and trying to find Mr. Right. It pokes fun at it by calling it the Mating Game and a Sweet Charade.

Not quite poetic, this is nonetheless a slickly written piece, set to a rich background, and would make an interesting dance piece. Its humor is a refreshing element, strangely fitting very nicely into the lush soundscape. It's also a very addictive song.

I don't think it's about finding Mr Right but Mr Right Now - it seems to be more about leading men along in meat markets, etc.

I think these lyrics are the most telling of the true meaning of the song:

"Hold me close enough to drink my rose The devil in my pocket turn to go Sorry if you want it You're in a daze Tonight, I love you But tomorrow go away"

I don't think this is just about a woman trying to find Mr. Right at all. This is about a woman who has control and a power over men. She wants these men to want her and hold her close and the devil in her gives it the go. She'll love them for that one night but then tomorrow she's ready for the next guy. The men are tossed and used.

I think of this song as a woman basically playing games with guys. She's into having fun and know she can get what she wants. Like mikekk67 says, she has power over men. She also likes to swtich up frequently, haha.
