World So Cold

I think that everyone should get a good childhood no matter the future. I don't get people right now. Fame, money, and power why do you need it? won't you die anyways? So why not just give it a rest? Live a good life, make this world a happy place for everyone. If I where you i would stop, with thought of money and power. Take this as a fact.

after finding this video, done by a user on youtube, it was clearly describing the vt tragedy. Somehow this song got leaked from their new album Anthem for the Underdog, the video was posted about 3 weeks after the shooting. So i don't think this song was specifically written about that specific tragedy, but all of them. It just describing how an innocent kid is driven to the brink of insanity and then finally snaps and becomes a killer. He can't understand how so much hate could come from someone who was once just a little innocent kid.

this is such an amazing song...its tragic and moving...it really highlights the maturity of 12 stones as a band...one of the high points of this album. The meaning is pretty obvious...its someone seeing how cold and cruel our world is slowly becoming... The lyrics are powerful and emotional...it's like a full personal experience just listening to this song.

This song is so epic and powerful, it just completely fills me up. Oh and it's not "cantor", it says in the album that it's "cancer".

I was at a 12 Stones concert last night. Paul said this song was originally written about serial killers, but it has come to describe the world in it's current state.

Just a question out of curiosity, I know they don't specifically write all their songs to be Christian in meaning, but like somebody said about another of their songs, maybe as a Christian you can read things differently. But do you think they sometimes hide a Christian meaning within their songs, even though the song as a whole is about something else?

In this song the example would be:

"A stain covers your heart, and tears you apart" "An innocent child with a thorn in his heart" "We all must be dreaming his life away In a world so cold"

The stain in this case obviously representing sin and the innocent child being Jesus, the thorn being his crucifixion(crown of thorns) and who is the he whose life we are dreaming away if the song is about the state of the world?

Just curious, preferably if you reply directly to my comment please state what religion you are (or atheist if you be). I'd prefer to have comments by both religious and non religious, Christian and non-Christian.

I think this song is about violence these days. It is not only about the vt tragedy but it could be. Probably about every person, who feels blue and then starts to kill people in anger.

I see this song to be about the world in general. And how young kids are subject to violence from everywhere - news, movies, television. And how they begin to follow what they see, this being conformatism.

I personally think the chorus is defining what we all think...somehwere in our minds. We all wonder why the world is the way it is, and how we lose control of what we feela nd believe. This causing some to act out in protest.

Honestly, I'm ashamed to be a human. I'm ashamed to say I'm part of this world. It's becoming cruel, ruthless and full of death and despair. I don't think enough people are stepping up to the plate to try and turn it around. I mean, everyone can make a difference, even if it's just speaking your views to a friend. They could think about it and decided that the world is worth fighting for. We all deserve the right to be happy.
