Jerome Lyrics

When you walk in Jerome
You never walk alone
'Cause the ghosts dance all around you
All around you, in Jerome

Take the Bloody Basin Road
Through Black Water Canyon
Up the twisted road
To Mingus Mountain
Then you'll know you are home
In the ghost town called Jerome
Where the ghosts dance all around you
All around you, in Jerome

Bar brawlers and drifters
Gamblers and gun fighters
Ladies of the evening, and copper miners
They kept the jailhouse filled
'til it rolled down the hill

So, when you walk in Jerome
You'll never walk alone
'Cause the ghosts dance all around you
All around you, in Jerome

They're all around you, in Jerome

A song about Jerome, Arizona, obviously (considering the references to Mingus Mountain - a mountain near the town - and to the jailhouse "falling" down a hill which happened in the town after a mine blast). Interesting, and a really obscure topic for a song. Love it!

Ha. I absolutely love the staggered, parrot-like background voices after he sings "Mountain" and "miners." BNL are priceless.

Was just there last summer. Lyrics of the song are absolutely true! Very cool old copper mining (ghost) town in Arizona. Built on the side of a mountain. A bit of a trek to get there but very well worth it. Stayed in the Clinkscale Hotel. I think it has 8 rooms. Great restaurant in the hotel, too. Buy a guidebook in one of the local shops and walk around the town yourself. Probably one of the best kept secrets in AZ.
