Marry the Night

It's about marrying yourself to your loneliness, aka the night. "I'm a soldier to my own emptiness." It's about exploring every dark corner of your soul that might be scared to venture, "leave nothing on these streets to explore." And it's about accepting those dark places in yourself that you might initially want to reject, "But I won't cry anymore / I hold my whiskey up high / kiss the bartender twice / I'm a loser."

So, in this sense, it's about marrying yourself to your creativity, never letting go of that thing that inspires you no matter what, "turn the car on and run."

This is my meaning and interpretation.

To me, this song is about seizing the moment, forgetting your worries and problems, having a good time and not caring about what people say :)

The video, at least, is about her struggle with being dropped from labels early on. The opening sequence in the hospital is a reference to, one of her idols, Frida Kahlo, who was in an accident and, after recovering, became an artist.

Perfect album opener. Just jumps right in with her voice, building up into that chorus that SLAMS into you. But why before Born This Way? I feel that this has some vulnerability, building right into the absolute confidence of BTW. It works. Will probably be a single. I wish the verses were a little better. But it's an awesome chorus and the NI-I-I-IGHT conclusion rocks :P

This song is so fun and empowering.

IN this song, "marry the night" means she's going to go out and party and escape into the nightlife in order to to forget about all her problems. It's a fun dance anthem to use when your down and jus wanna party your troubles away:)
