The Man Who Never Lied Lyrics

in the middle of hollywood boulevard,
screaming at eachother, screaming at eachother
like oh oh oh.
can't take it anymo o ore.
like a tragedy, like a dark comedy
laughing at eachother, laughing at eachother
like oh oh oh.
it isn't funny anymo o ore.

i was the man who never lied
never lied until today
but i just couldn't break your heart
like you did mine yesterday
i was the man who never lied
i was the man who never lied

sometimes honesty is the worst policy
happy ever after, happy ever after
let it go o o
you never need to kno o ow.
i don't wanna be picking up all of these
tiny little pieces, tiny little pieces
of your hea a art.
won't do it anymo o ore.

i was the man who never lied
never lied until today
but i just couldn't break your heart
like you did mine yesterday
i was the man who never lied
i was the man who never lied

i was the..
yeah. yeah.
ohhh. ohh.

in the middle of hollywood boulevard,
what am i doing on hollywood boulevard?
in the middle of hollywood boulevard,
screaming at eachother, screeeeeeeeeaming.

i was the man who never lied
never lied until today
but i just couldn't break your heart
like you did mine yesterday
i was the man who never lied
i was the man who never lied

oh. i was the man,
i was the man who never lied.

By far, this is my fave song of Maroon 5.

I think it's sweet of Adam (or the guy) to do such a thing. Although it can be really hard for a guy's pride to suck it all up just because he loves her that much. And it would've been better if he would just be honest and communicate that he wasn't feeling any good about it anymore.

Then again, it's a song of what usually happens / how one feels when in the heat of an argument, fight, misunderstanding. The perfect reaction is to make a white lie to salvage everything.

I remember my guy in this song. He told me that he never lied to me even though I broke his heart before. How I wish he is not lying! I hope he is telling the truth that he never lied to me before and until now. DAMN!! so hard to understand guys. I do not know whether they are true or what!

this is me, lying. Saying I'm okay, just so I don't put someone else in pain. And they don't know how bad they break my heart. And of course, I can't do it back to them.

I think the song means that.

This song, like several other Overexposed tracks, finds Adam Levine in a dysfunctional relationship. This time, however, he is the victim. "I was the man who never lied. Never lied until today. But I couldn't break your heart like you did mine yesterday," croons Levine.

Levine penned the song with the collaboration of Brian "Sweetwesty" West and Marius Moga. Noah "Mailbox" Passovoy produced the tune.

Brian "Sweetwesty" West is the lead guitarist for the Canadian band The Philosopher Kings. He co-wrote and co-produced most of the tracks on Nelly Furtado's first two albums, Whoa, Nelly and Folklore including her breakthrough single "I'm Like a Girl." Marius Moga is a well-known Romanian composer who is known as "Little Mozart." Moga owns a studio in Bucharest, Romania, but regularly flies to London and Los Angeles, working with upcoming artists. He also has placed songs on various movie soundtracks including the ones for Domino and 7 Seconds. Noah "Mailbox" Passovoy is a Los-Angeles based mixer and engineer who also worked on Maroon 5's hit tune, "Payphone." Other artists he has collaborated with include Gomez, Olivia Newton-John and Donna Summer.
