One time I had a dream in which I was browsing through this giant wharehouse store and, in the blankets sections, they had a bunch of different blankets for different Pixies songs
I remember having a conversation with someone else looking at blankets about how I like La La Love You because it is a joke song and that 'I like all the Pixies' joke songs
So I'm pretty sure it's a joke song! My subconsious says

I think this song is about.... How both males and females throw around the phrase "i love you" like its a baseball for a couple of reasons. It makes them feel like they are in love....a comforting feeling and reassurance and also the guilt free sex...because of course..its OK to have sex if you love them right?
I heard Frank Black say this song is defeinetly not about love and that anyone who thought it was is "misinterpreting it". I think it's about lust, and promising love to get to "first base second base third base" and "homerun".
It's about telling someone that you love them just so you can bang them. The whole song is fully of flirtiness and the home run part kinda spells it out.
this song is plain and simple. its a joke sarcastic love song in response the the sappy love pop songs being heard on the radio in the late 80's. i mean god their joking. i mean david lovering the drummer sings it for god sake. the intro with the i love you's being said should be ur first clue. great tune though and the pixies are the best band ever aside from the clash
