Hot topic is the way that we rhyme
One step behind the drum style
One step behind the drum style
Yoko Ono and Carolee Schneeman
You're getting old, that's what they'll say, but
Don't give a damn I'm listening anyway
I can't live if you stop
Don't you stop
Leslie Feinberg and Faith Ringgold
Mr. Lady, Laura Cottingham
Mab Segrest and The Butchies, man
Don't stop
We won't stop
Don't you stop
So much shit to give in, give in to
So many rules and so much opinion
So much bullshit but we won't give in
Don't you stop
I can't live if you stop
Vivienne Dick and Lorraine O'Grady
Gayatri Spivak and Angela Davis
Laurie Weeks and Dorothy Allison
Please don't stop
We won't stop

This one's pretty obvious, right? It's just about powerful women; women who have made a difference and who, the band hopes, will continue to do so.

Happy International Day of the Woman ladies!

Oh yeah, also Canada's National Playlist featured this song - Much VJ Hannah Sung spoke about how important a song it was from a feminist perspective

this song rooles...obviously about strong ladies, feminists women who have made a difference

this song always makes me teary.

I'm so stoked they mentioned Eileen Myles. Eileen has been such an influence of mine, and now i'm lucky enough to be in one of her poetry classes...she's so awesome, and so is this song!

i just want to correct almost all of you: this is a shout out, not to women but to activists, whether they be feminist or queer, people who've made a difference in the community. i'm pretty sure (like really sure) justin bond is male-identified for example. (i'm really glad they mention him shortbus=amazing justin=gorgeous!)
