Rousseau Lyrics

They're aware of you
Beneath the chutes now
Tampering with the levers
You release their drones
Indistinct wires
The red black wires
The red black
Indistinct colors
The drones are near
The drones are near

Roomsick Man is easy now
Arrested day. Awake in grey
Bedsick Man I read somehow
Once he was full. He's empty now

Is a part of my soul asleep today?
Is it hid under the pillow where
Cleophus lays?
Is it stuck inside the dash
With the shitty comp. tapes?
Something's wrong with my soul

They have lied to you
Beneath the chutes now
Tampering with the levers
The drones are near
Te drones are near

My heart beats from the outside
And I'll do anything to keep me inside
Cause I'm busy dodging rocks
and I can barely pick you up
But I can sense a faint disintrest
Although my levels are all fucked up

We run from the drones
I want to run from the drones with you
I don't want to run from the drones and you

I'll tell you one thing about this song -- Cleophus is Rob's cat.

Yeah it totally is about a character on Lost, crazy how Pinback wrote a song about that character 6 years before the show first aired. WHAT A COINCIDENCE.

Also, Hurley came out in: 1998 And Penelope in: 2002 Lost first aired: 2004

Get a better theory.

Anyway, really cool song, I was wondering where the samples are from and after some research found out it's from Dark Star, also apparently where they got their name from.

They've said in an interview that they threw darts at a map of Europe to come up with the song titles for the first album.

@clarkfan22 They missed just a touch South straight out of the gate

@clarkfan22 Mostly around France?

the line. "but i can sense a faint dis interest, although my levels are all fucked up.." so good.

They are pretty soulful. Something about the rolling line, 'something wrong with my soul' sort of disproves itself by reminding me of Marvin Gaye.

I hate to ruin it for you lost fans but this song is Not about lost. There are many clues that prove against that point. First, Cleophus is the name of a serial killer from California. Cleophus Prince Jr. He was arrested and moved to a state prison in San Diego, where the band is from. It is my personal belief that the band was around the trials and therefor were influenced in a strange way by it. Lyric such as 'Roomsick Man is easy now Arrested day. Awake in grey Bedsick Man I read somehow Once he was full. He's empty now'... indicate the capturing of Cleophus.

About Dark Star, yes it is where the band got its name. If you listen to other pinback songs you wil hear different samples of that same movie. Not to mention the lead in the 1973 space thriller goes by the name of Pinback.

I know for a fact the Cleophus referred to in this song is Rob Crow's cat.

Not Valid

@HC_MOS Also this album came out before lost....

in history class, we're studying Europe from back in the 1500's and so on, and Rousseau, Seville, and Versailles, they're all places and people. Seville was where Christopher Columbus pretty much killed/enslaved all the Native Americans. Versailles, King Lous XIV built it, and it's this big elaborate castle that nearly put Europe in debt. And Roussaeu is a political philosopher from the Enlightenment of Europe.

crazy.

IN ADDITION, Montaigne is a philosopher. Avignon is a city in the south of France. Lyon is another city in France.

etc., etc.

@cowboyxkailey Wait. What happened in Seville? LOL.
