The Eagle And The Hawk Lyrics
In rocky cathedrals that reach to the sky.
I am the hawk and there's blood on my feathers,
But time is still turning, they soon will be dry
And all those who see me and all who believe in me
Share in the freedom I feel when I fly.
Touch on the mountain tops,
Sail over canyons and up to the stars.
And reach for the heavens,
and hope for the future,
And all that we can be,
not just what we are.

This song is an anthem for me. It is a song about hope. It is one that I have based my entire life on. We've all got blood on our feathers, but we keep pressing on. Even when people call you a fool, go ahead and make your plans to free yourself from whatever binds you. Those who understand what you are doing will share in the freedom you are striving to reach. You can be whatever you want to be... much more than you are now.

I love this song, recently I liked this girl and so did my best friend, long story short she choose him, at first I would cry listening to John's 'Annie's Song' but then I stumbled upon this track and the like "I am the Hawk and there's blood on my feathers, but time is still turning, they soon will be dry." I am the Hawk and my whole mess is the blood, but time is still turning it soon will be dry
-The Hawk-

That's cool how the song had real personal meaning for you. For me, it is like an anthem, telling me to reach for what I could be and not settle for things as they are. The second part really resonates with me, makes me want to live free. It seems so many people just settle for a mediocre life, this song really seems to shout it out to me that I can do better.
I love John Denver, may he rest in peace, but his songs forever live on. They seem more important now than ever before.

This song menas a lot to me. When mom first started listening to John Denver again this was the one I loved. I've always had a dream to be flying forever free. And this song gives you hope to move onward, to be who you want to be.......
