i love the imagery of the river washing him clean, a symbol of baptism and rebirth, and then he... picks up a rock to sharpen his blade. you can just tell that hes never going to repent. hes going to keep taking these second and third and fourth chances and just keep doing what hes doing. haha its pretty badass. i love this ending... this song is amazing. |

its also definitely "stepping stool".
um, i think its about someone who gets into a scene that hes not necessarily comfortable with...having sex (hence the "body is a tempting tool" part), partying, watching someone vomit into a kitchen sink... and he thinks "what the hell am i doing here, i wasnt raised like this, im not this kind of person... what have i done?" and he looks to god to help him and forgive him... the lyrics from the knitting factory are a bit different and are more spiritual, asking jesus to deliver him. but thats what i got out of it. |

aww man, someone beat me to submitting this one. i totally submitted them the day the album came out, too. :P
but yeah, i like this song and i think its just him talking to his brother in his head, and he's possibly thinking about committing suicide? he tells his brother to hope his life ends for him this way... im not sure how exactly hes thinking about killing himself.
i love the emotion in "while the children were down the stairs"... like, "you scumbag, you couldnt even have the decency to wait until my children were out of the house?" he has complete hatred for his brother and his wife. |

i dont think she was being racist... it was the fact that the song is about giving head. not the most appealing song to some people. i dunno, maybe im being naive, but im hoping its because of the whole content of the song and not because its a black dude instead of a white dude. |

hah that was such a lame comment... but i think this song is about jesus christ, how he "jumps into the graves" of the dead and died for them... and we're expected to give up our lives to him, but when we do, we lose a part of ourselves and are less alive.
and she thinks religion is just superstition, and christians just cross their fingers hoping things will be ok and looking completely stupid while doing it.
this is just my take, im a christian myself so maybe im a little biased about it. |

i love the first "i wish youd say please dont leave me"... like he's just fully realizing the extent of his wife's betrayal... how much he didnt mean to her the moment she decided to cheat on him. the more i listen to this CD, the more i have to say about it. its beautiful. |

the sharks and the jets is a reference to west side story. theyre the two feuding gangs. i dont really know what this song is saying. |
