First of all, I just got the compilation and can't not listen to this song at least five times in a row when it comes on. Much too short. Major tease.
Secondly, while I think that 311005901's interpretation is a good one, I also believe that the lyrics are vague on purpose. I think that the song could be applied to many, many situations. Simply a fight that was won, a hope, a promise. Exhibition of strength, or even regret.
Either way, it is beautiful. |

Hmm, I always took "And I wonder if I'm alone in your head" to mean "I wonder if you are thinking about anyone else right now in addition to or instead of me." Oh well. Personally, it hurts just as much to listen to this song knowing that you caused someone pain like this, and that they are wondering what you could be doing that is so much fun. |

it sometimes freaks me out how much i can relate to this song. and I know everyone says that, but i really mean it. i had an affair with a married guy who lived across the street. he said some amazing things to me, built me up so high, but then watched as i made my fantastic fall. in the end, he still had someone and i was alone. |

Honestly, it's my least favorite on the new cd. Neither the music nor the lyrics say anything special to me; they don't make me feel anything the way that almost ALL of tsl's other songs do. anyone else feel this way? |

i was thinking that too, funkyseaweed, about the unfaithfulness part, sort of. i interpreted it like this: she thinks he's cheating, but he's not, and he's "screaming his lungs out to try to get to her", but she still won't trust him. he tries and tries to tell her that she's his "only one", to the point where he has to give up and let her go. does that make sense? i'm curious to know if anyone else read it that way. love the song in any case, and i'm gonna see them this monday, nov 1st, can't wait! |

ok, first off, i love the song, yada yada yada.. BUT i must say something in response to Grosby's comment: the word "tourniquet" may have its roots in French, but it has obviously been anglicized since then and the 't' IS pronounced. and if you don't belive me, look it up in Webster's. so there. |

when i first heard it, i though break-up song, but pretty sure now it's about death.. i can't stop listening to it, even though it makes me so sad.. does anyone else feel like that? it creeps me out, but i am absolutely in love with it at the same time. i agree with kellymac, makes you want to enjoy time with loved ones now, cause you never know when they'll be gone.. |
