Kate Bush – The Sensual World Lyrics 16 years ago
Like everyone has said, the song is based on Molly's monologue.
Kate wanted to make the lyrics the monologue but they wouldn't release the rights, so she wrote this song, trying to encapture the monologue's meaning

Sarah McLachlan – Fear Lyrics 17 years ago
I didn't like this song the first time I heard it, probably because her voice is so unique in it. I listened to the lyrics, though, and thought they were bloody fantastic. Then the music grew on me and now I think it's definitely one of Sarah's greatest songs.
One of my favourite line's of all time is 'tangled up in our embrace'...fantastic.

The Cranberries – No Need To Argue Lyrics 17 years ago
What a beautiful voice.

The Cranberries – Dreaming My Dreams Lyrics 17 years ago
i agree with ya enero. No need to argue is definitely one of the best albums I've ever heard. In fact...if it weren't for McLachlan's fumbling towards ecstacy, this one could be No 1. This song in particular is so beautiful.

submissions
The Cranberries – Empty Lyrics 17 years ago
can't believe no ones commented on the music. Isn't that some of the most beautiful music you've ever heard? Never mind the lyrics, its those violins that make me cry every time.

submissions
The Cranberries – Linger Lyrics 17 years ago
This song is just fantastic live. Most ppl who've bought the 'no need to argue' album would've got the free cd with a couple of their live songs, and this was on it. Absolutely wonderful.

K's Choice – Laughing As I Pray Lyrics 17 years ago
isn't the last line 'pray a little longer, laugh a little more" not "pray a little longer OR laugh a little more?" It makes more sense without the or. Either way, its a great song. good live, too.

K's Choice – Another Year Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about someone who has gotten into a rut and is just moving along in life, not caring at all.
It's a great driving song. If anyone else has to drive a long way to work, I recommend cranking this baby in the car.

submissions
Little Birdy – Relapse Lyrics 17 years ago
I love this song so much. It was the first Little Birdy I heard. I ran out and bought Big Big Love striaght away.
Crank this song in your car and sing along...though I think only Perth people appreciate that when you're at the lights...everyone else just seems to give me wierd looks.

submissions
Little Birdy – Andy Warhol Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with atthedrive-in. Little Birdy reminds me of K's Choice in that I can't BELIEVE they aren't more popular and widely known than they are. (did that make sense?)
Anyway, I love this song. Every time I hear that intro I get goosebumps...

K's Choice – Mr. Freeze Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with ladybug. But it's also about Gert getting seasick on a boatrip to Dover. lol. poor guy.

submissions
Sarah McLachlan – Elsewhere Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with everyone else (except for the homosexual thing. lol, ive tried, but i just can't see it). This song is so damn good, and it goes beyond lyrics too. Just sit back and listen to it without thinking about it. Trust me, it'll give u goosebumps.

submissions
K's Choice – Everything For Free Lyrics 17 years ago
I agree with just about everyone else. I think this is a sane person who is in a mental institution and wants to stay there because they don't have to deal with everyday life and the crap that comes with it.
I didn't realise how good this song is until it i listened to it full volume on my i-pod ( I strongly recommend doing that)

submissions
Kate Bush – Coffee Homeground Lyrics 17 years ago
lol. this is a funny song: the lyrics and the music. i love when kate has some fun, instead of her usual poignant and deep stuff.

submissions
Boston – Amanda Lyrics 17 years ago
lol. notice how just about everyone whose posted on this is named Amanda (guilty, as well). The name means 'to be loved' so the song is kinda fitting.

submissions
Enya – China Roses Lyrics 17 years ago
I never really looked much into the lyrics of this song, but it sounds so damn good that I don't really care what it means. Enya has a fantastic voice

submissions
Garbage – The World Is Not Enough Lyrics 17 years ago
I thought it was 'no one ever died from wanting too much' which, i think makes the most sense. It's about a woman who wants everything, and believes that a certain man can help her. Definitely the best of all the 007 songs, and the first song that made me realise just how good her voice is.
I think the line 'the world is not enough, but it is such a perfect place to start' is particularly funny. Can't you just imagine a psychotic woman who wants everything saying that?

submissions
Joe Jackson – It's Different For Girls Lyrics 17 years ago
It's definitely the girl saying to the guy 'its different for girls'. I think its about a girl who just wants sex, and a guy who wants more. lol. talk about role reversal. You;ve gotta love Joe, though

submissions
K's Choice – Believe Lyrics 17 years ago
I thought that quote Mieks has was by Sarah, not Gert. Anyone know?

submissions
K's Choice – Winners Lyrics 17 years ago
I've always kinda had the opinion that this was written about Sarah's first lesbian love, or at least some kind of socially taboo romance.
I think the line 'try the black one, white is nice, if you want blue you'll pay the price' is saying that you have to do what's expected by society and considered safe and normal: picking a colour instead of just black or white has the price of being shunned and misunderstood.
Plus the line '...where we kissed. where you changed me, estranged me' sorta feels like this person, by kissing her, opened up this whole new world that she hadn't even considered before.
No idea if its even remotely on track, but its such a damn good song, who cares what it means?

submissions
Tasmin Archer – Sleeping Satellite Lyrics 17 years ago
I've never really thought much about this song, but one thing I can say for it is that the line 'I blame you for the moonlit sky' is just damn beautiful.

submissions
K's Choice – 20,000 Seconds Lyrics 17 years ago
i agree that its definitely about a break up. definitely beautiful too. i love that line ' how colours can change and even the texture of the rain.'

submissions
Kate Bush – The Infant Kiss Lyrics 17 years ago
Its interesting for an incest song to be woman-boy, rather than man-girl.
Like you said, starpatroller, it's typical Kate to sing something like this.
I love the vocals in it though, she's the queen of using back-ups in all the right spots, no matter what song.

submissions
Marc Cohn – Ghost Train Lyrics 17 years ago
Great song. I think its about a baby whose lost his mother ('riding on a ghost train') and now he can't ever get her back ('she keeps on riding') Also the fact that he lost her when he was young, ('some trains they just leave too soon')
anyway, its a fantastic song.

Faith No More – The Real Thing Lyrics 17 years ago
i totally agree with geek, lol.
Though its soooo hard to choose, this is my favourite Faith No More song. put it up as loud as your headphones can go, turn off the lights (in a non sexual way) and listen to it. awesome. I especially love the last 4 lines. goosebump worthy

submissions
Joan Armatrading – The Weakness In Me Lyrics 17 years ago
hate to hark, but theres also a coupla lyrics wrong here.
'if you're so strong, then resolve the weakness in me' is actually, 'are you so strong, or is all the weakness in me'
and the 'and i need you baby', is actually, 'and i need you, and you' (reference to not being able to choose between the two). makes it much easier to understand, and much deeper, with the right lyrics.

Tracy Chapman – Give Me One Reason Lyrics 17 years ago
This is a fantastic Tracy song. Doesn't it just make you wanna funk-out? Try listening to it without dancing, and you've got some serious willpower.

submissions
Yoko Kanno – Inner Universe Lyrics 17 years ago
i think that 'mana du vortes' could actually be 'nalybuites' - russian for 'watch in awe'.
The perfect song for Stand ALone Complex though. It can sum up Motoko like nuthin else.
Also, a nod has to go to origa, who actually perform the song. That is some seriously amazing vocals.

submissions
Bob Marley and the Wailers – No Woman No Cry Lyrics 17 years ago
My favourite bob song. So many people have commented on the lyrics, but how can you resist the music in this song? Doesn't it just make u wanna groove out? lol

submissions
Cowboy Bebop – The Real Folk Blues Lyrics 17 years ago
This song and cowboy bebop are just plain fantastic. thats all i have to say

submissions
Sandi Thom – I Wish I Was A Punk Rocker (With Flowers In My Hair) Lyrics 17 years ago
Just another modern-day whinge song if you ask me. Are there any modern songs on the radio these days that aren't just people whining about how hard life is? pisses me off.

(thankyou for listening to me vent)

Kate Bush – Breathing Lyrics 17 years ago
I think this song is about a baby in its mother's womb - 'outside gets inside through her skin' & 'breathing my mother in'. It paints a truly tragic picture of a baby that doesn't want to be born because of a nuclear explosion outside. Also, the 'only the fools blew it, you and me knew life itself is breathing' refers to the fact that its often children and recent mothers/pregant women who see life in its most simplest form - surviving and breathing.
Either way, its a fantastic song and one of the first of Kate's I ever heard.

submissions
Kate Bush – And Dream of Sheep Lyrics 17 years ago
I see this song as a chic being lost at sea with just a torch or something (little light shining, guiding them to me). I always thought the ending bit, rather than being a rescue, was her finally falling asleep from hypothermia, and being led deeper and deeper by 'them'.
Still, whatever you think it means, it's a great song, and despite being quite dark, it's very soothing and relaxing.

submissions
K's Choice – Elegia Lyrics 17 years ago
I can't believe no one's commented on this song. My take on it is that its from the point of view of a non-christian, whose died, and now finds herself at God's door. It made me wonder about what happens to people who aren't raised as christians if it all turns out to be true.
Anyway, great song, great piano and, as usual, great sarah

submissions
The Waifs – London Still Lyrics 17 years ago
fantastic song. its one of the few songs that i can hear EVERY day at work, and still not get sick of it (and that is seriously saying something)

submissions
Tracy Chapman – For My Lover Lyrics 17 years ago
what awesome use of guitar in this song. You can just feel yourself getting lifted up in the music just before that last 'two weeks in a virginia jail'. You gotta love tracy chapman

submissions
K's Choice – Virgin State Of Mind Lyrics 17 years ago
This was the first K's choice song i heard, and, like most people, i heard it on Buffy. I loved it so much i tracked down the band and bought all their cd's i could find. i agree with 'k'schoicefan88' its about leaving a mental shell

submissions
Joan Armatrading – Love and Affection Lyrics 18 years ago
what a fantastic song! i cant believe there have been no comments about it. definitely a great song about the differences between friends and lovers. listen to it as loud as ur i-pod can go, it'll give u goosebumps

submissions
Joan Armatrading – The Weakness In Me Lyrics 18 years ago
this is one of my 'hear and cry like a baby songs' its like kate bush's 'this woman's work'. like gabbyownsme said, its too emotional to listen to often

submissions
Kate Bush – Babooshka Lyrics 18 years ago
this song is just a dark version of Escape, Jimmy Ruffin's pina colada song.

submissions
Kate Bush – Running Up That Hill Lyrics 18 years ago
if it was going to be called Deal With God several countries refused to play it, including Australia (i'll never know why, bcos, take it from me, we aren't very religious here.) kate had to change the name which, i think, is a pity

submissions
Kate Bush – This Woman's Work Lyrics 18 years ago
i always thought when she said 'now starts the craft of the father' she meant God, and how he can be a bitch sometimes

Crash Test Dummies – God Shuffled His Feet Lyrics 18 years ago
I think its about the inability of humans to understand 'God'. He tries to explain things with parables, but in the end we'll all just interpret them as subtle jokes... I always knew the Bible was a comedy.
