Awesome that you could relate so well to a marvelous piece of music. Think it is great how people can relate to the songs in different ways without putting to much thought in it. I, on hte other hand, love to analyze and find out what my deepest thoughts can draw out a beautifully lyrical piece. I like to test my intelligence a bit. I think it is nice that people still see love in this world, eventhough love has run aground on a massive island called sexual liberalism. Don't know why I'm writing this here, just felt like it. |

if u understood a thing or two about recording you would know that each instrument is recorded individually for then to be mastered together into one track. And yeah kojak it was axl who fucked adrianna smith, but it wasn't duing the recordings, it was during the mixing in New York after recordings were done in L.A. Axl thought that something was missing and offered to fuck her in the live studio there. haha gotta love rock and roll! If u wanna read about it it's all in Slash's biography. |

Yes I am sorry. I have to edit myself :) this song is on the UK album, while Elective Amnesia is on the ITunes version. Yeah it is beautiful and well written, but whats your interpretation of it? what do you think about it? The second I saw "like a child un-born" I started thinking about abortion and the creation of a better life for yourself (be it the father or the mother) by killing someone else, but that's what jumped to my head first. Actually it just came to my mind: These are things of immense beauty figuratively speaking, that probably goes through a lot of pain: Most saints were brutally murdered in some way or another (Jean d'Arc for example) The rose in the storm probably suffers as well, feeling it is going to be slayed by the rain or pulled up by the wind, And a child that isn't born, that dies before it is born, what pain and anguish do they feel? I guess these are all examples of overcoming something? Their songs amazes me more and more, because they are so intricately written and there is always a new element that is discovered :D |

First of all, to HollyHomocide, it is not on any record you can buy, but what I heard it is a bonus song on appeal to reason that u get if u download it from itunes. This song has nothing to do with floods just because he sings about rain and rebuilding. I actually bothered to look up the title of the song and found out it is the latin title of an autobiography written by a french philosopher in the 12th century. Now in the foreword of the book he states this: "OFTEN the hearts of men and women are stirred, as likewise they are soothed in their sorrows more by example than by words. And therefore, because I too I have known some consolation from speech had with one who was a witness thereof, am I now minded to write of the sufferings which have sprung out of my misfortunes, for the eyes of one who, though absent, is of himself ever a consoler. This I do so that, in comparing your sorrows with mine, you may discover that yours are in truth nought, or at the most but of small account, and so shall you come to bear them more easily. " He is pretty much saying that whatever happens to you, there is always someone that has it worse, and we should cheer up and rebuild whatever got torn down or taken away. it also might be aimed towards the pessimists out there, saying that its to late to save our planet and doomsday is right around the corner, trying to tell them that there is still hope out there. There are some minor metaphors in this song that is hard to figure out cuzz i havent analyzed it well enough yet, but hopefully more will come. |

I had to LOG IN to respond to this. I mean, seriously guys... one of u is saying that it is open for interpretation but he is also saying that christians shouldnt shove their believes down anybodys throat? isn't the christian interpretation also allowed? I mean this lyric might mean so many things to different things. It obviously is about a female person struggling with her depressions and inner inconfidence, parental issues etc. And the singer might be God, might be a random friend, bystander, relative, what ever u want it to be!! Thats the great deal about music! U can relate to it with your personal beliefs, experiences, knowledge, whatever pops in ur head! stop arguing what it is not about, and rather tell us what it means to you! I'm sick of reading these comments from people saying they are all for open mindedness, but whenever religious views comes into the picture, they go head over heels to shut it down, because they are showing it down someones throat... Having said that, I get so many feelings when I see these lyrics. It might be God, it might be about your own comfort zone, it might be about all the shit u experience in your life catching up to you making you feel that you need something greater than yourself to believe in and to hold on to, it might be about this really troubled person denying his or hers problems, but the person outside looking in sees through it so easily. Great song... btw i loved the first comment. almost shed a tear when i read it:) |
