I'd say this was about Tommy trying to help the people by stopping them drinking and taking drugs - "smoking mother nature" - but because of this the people decide to leave-they do not want his religion if it requires giving up their habits. When he is rejected, he relapses into his original state, as shown by the 'See Me Feel Me' theme repeated from earlier on. |
