Billy Joel – The Downeaster 'Alexa' Lyrics 15 years ago
This is such a wonderful song, and unfortunately it speaks so much truth. I first really paid attention to it when I heard the word 'Nantucket' mentioned, since I am a Nantucket native myself and have a blood tie to the island. Nantucket used to be a much bigger fishing community, but now I can count the independent fishermen working here on one hand. It's so sad to see fishing communities like Nantucket slowly lose their character and become just another tourist destination. I love listening to this song, even if it makes me sad... it will always be one of my favorites.

Bright Eyes – The Calendar Hung Itself . . . Lyrics 16 years ago
I love everything about this song. Even down to his play on words.

When I first heard the song (and could understand the lyrics) I was kind of bothered by how he said "and i DRUG your ghost across the country" when I thought it should be "dragged." Although "drug" is grammatically incorrect, not only does it sound better, it gives another dimension to the lyrics. Drugs are a constant theme in this song and others... And it seems that this person, and his attachment to them, is like an addiction itself. He just can't escape her.

Just had to add my little appreciation of that one word. xD I love picking things apart like this.
