Lemon Demon – The Ultimate Showdown Of Ultimate Destiny Lyrics 11 years ago
This song is AWESOME!
Its one failure: Of the 30 participants in the showdown who are mentioned by name, not a single one is female. The only female participants are those lumped into the collective mentions of "every single power ranger" and "care bear stare."

Really, there is no shortage of female pop-culture and historical bad-asses. Why aren't they represented in this song?

LOL. Hahahhahhahahah I'd listened to this song a few times before, but it wasn't until just now that I realized it's about a college student crushing on her professor! I now love this song.

but i don't get how "time, truth, and hearts" relates to that verse...?

nice connections
you gotta remember though, that with the killers, the meaning of the music video doesn't always parallel the meaning of the song. (like, we know that "dustland fairytale" is about brandon's parents, but his dad didn't kill someone and sit in jail for most of his life.)
especially this song, since there are two different music videos for it

i don't think it was written *for* the movie-- it is from their very first album, which was recorded almost two years before The Matador. this song has been in a lot of movies.

wow! that's exactly what "one more son" made me think of :) haha i made these same connections. cool

"while everyone's lost, the battle is won with all these things that i've done" = his anguish when he found out that real people were dying- but he won the war

"you gotta help me out... you're gonna bring yourself down" = at first he kept expecting the teachers to protect him, because he was their only hope

yeah, kind of a far chance that this would be true, but there sure are a lot of connections :)

is that what it is? the lyrics above say "a paradise," which is supported by the next line "Utopia high in the sky"
but the sounds are so close...

Brandon Flowers – Right Behind You Lyrics 13 years ago
I know Brandon Flowers is not Muslim, but every time I hear "when you touch the stone" i can't help but think of the Islamic tradition of touching the Black Stone on the Kaaba while on pilgrimage in Mecca...
haha what could "when you touch the stone" mean?

The Killers – Boots Lyrics 13 years ago
i'm so so so happy they made another christmas song :)

I think that the big line here is "Stomp my boots before I go back in." It's referring to how Christmas reminds us that we can shed sins and mistakes and "the paths we took" to enjoy fellowship with friends and family.

The song describes mistakes in the past, but "Just when [he thinks] these times have gotten the best of [him]" he realises that he's been forgiven, is free from the mistakes of his past, and can appreciate the miracle of christmas.

The music video shows a man who "stomps the snow off his boots" by raising enough money and hope to bring gifts to his family, who had disappointed before. His reunion with his family is him "going back in."

That the title is taken from this like is a hint that this is where the big meaning is.

After all, that's the idea of Christmas: that someone was born who could help us be free of the burden of our sins and mistakes :)

hope this makes sense
Merry Christmas!

haha I think "monorail" near the end aught to be "Monterey". That sounds closer, and it's another town.

I'm pretty sure "And I looked in her eyes/ And there was something gone" aught to be "When I looked in her eyes/ There was something gone" just a little change...

listen again. it really does sound like "will I ever win?" and that makes sense being answered by "only time will tell."

Brandon Flowers – Crossfire Lyrics 13 years ago
My interpretation is closest to kbb02's, i think.

It's about resisting temptation. Two people who want to be together but know it's immoral (whether one is married to someone else or whatever).

I'm convinced because of these lyrics:

And we're caught up in the crossfire
Of heaven and hell
And we're searching for shelter

Heaven and hell are fighting over the two lovers.

Tell the devil that he can go back from where he came
His fiery arrows drew their BEAD in VAIN.
And when the hardest part is over we'll be here
And our dreams will break the boundaries of our fear
The boundaries of our fear

The devil is playing a sinister cupid. "His fiery arrows drew their bead in vain" means that the devil took aim, trying to get the lovers to do something wrong (i'm sorry my language is so vague but i think you get what i mean) but he failed. The two people resisted the temptation-arrows, and Heaven won the battle.

Unfortunately i can't connect the other lyrics to this, but i think these are the most powerful lyrics of the song anyway.
