My source is seeing Super Furry Animals play it Saturday for their Fuzzy Logic/ Radiator tour set, frontman Gruff Rhys announced that Radiator was entering a "k Hole" but that as the album progresses "it goes down into a dark slow void" and "don't worry we then get high high high". This suggests this part of the album, from 'BASS Tuned To D/.E.A.D' through to the conclusion of Radiator is about this anecdotal drug experience.

I think it's about someone on cocaine talking too much when the other person (the narrator in the song,) is on most likely ketamine, or just strong cannabis, and he offers his choice of drug to the person on coke so they can be on the same wave length. However this just leads to going 'Down A Different River' albeit a more relaxed one. The second verse is probably about trying to function the next morning, taking until evening to regain normality but still having wholly messed up tangled hair, hardly being able to make out the door. |

This song is so fun to play on guitar and I na band it’s just such a blast and screaming the "Carrion birds part" is a fantastic feeling. I love At The Drive In so much they are by far one of the finest bands ever to come out of The USA. The lyrics are always very complex but at the same time have a deeper meaning some of the songs have several meanings. The statements they make, the way they make them and the way they say them are what make this band so great. But live they were amazing so intense and so just having fun. This to me is punk not the watered down crap that carries the cliché around so much nowadays. |

Ah as for the sarcasm thing I was been sarcastic about how good it was cus it isn't but at the end of the day that is my opinion so not everyone need subscribe. I recently saw the flaming lips cover a Floyd song exactly as it was played on The Piper At The Gates Of The Dawn LP. It was incredible and my fave Floyd song - Lucifer Sam
I guess for me there are four Floyd’s
The first been Syd's experimental/improv/psych/avant garde 60's Floyd. Secondly you have post Syd which was where they really pushed some boundaries even further - like Meddle, Obscured by clouds, wish you were hear, Dark Side Of The moon.
Then you have the pretty dire Floyd which was where Roger took over big time this was around about the time of The Wall where Rick left and then the follow up - The Final Cut - well that just plain sucked.
The final incarnation of Floyd is the 90's reunion where Rick, Gilmore and Nick all decided to go on. This Floyd is pretty impressive but doesn't cus it next to things like Dark Side, Meddle and the debut incarnation.
Like I say though that is Floyd for me, my fave era been Syd's {60's} you have to admit the impact he had on Floyd as a whole never went away. On Floyd’s last record there are still signs of songs about Syd and the music is still echoes of what Syd began in the 60's before he lost his mind and way |

Hell no the pixies and At The Drive-In are totally different At The Drive In has more energy and much more obscure lyrics. Spartra is like a shitty version of at the drive in {when they split the bassist drummer and guitarist Jim formed Spartra} the best half of At The Drive-In {Omar and Cedric} formed the more evolved group The Mars Volta. Anyway back to the pixies the pixies are one of the most laid back groups to ever exist if you ever see footage of them live they don't move heh they are so laid back I love em!

Yeah a lot of Pixie songs have hidden meanings this one was about the first drop of an atom bomb on Nagasaki. Frank has a way of summing up human faults in an album. It's strange cus it almost makes them concept albums, Doolitle is very dibical and deals with human faults and vices and Bossanova and Tromp Le Monde are about a kid watching aliens fly past in his back yard.
