Madonna – Celebration Lyrics | 14 years ago |
watching the video and looking at the lyrics, this song is to me about letting go of all your inhibitions (and also values and morals) and just stepping into the stream of life. |
Sugar Ray – Stay On (feat. Nick Hexum) Lyrics | 14 years ago |

Alanis Morissette – You Owe Me Nothing In Return Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this is also a very comforting song to sing to when you feel silly for loving someone "too much" |
Alanis Morissette – You Owe Me Nothing In Return Lyrics | 15 years ago |
"You Owe Me Nothing in Return" is, in Morissette's words, "about the real definition of what love is ... wanting for someone that you love what they want for themselves. And at the same time not sacrificing my own life and my thoughts and my own beliefs. Supporting someone in their choices and at the same time being able to express what mine are, even if they differ, is the ultimate healthy, loving interaction." The Cranberries – Daffodil Lament Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I think this song is really well crafted.. Like many have pointed out it's about how this girl knows that the relationship she's in isn't going anywhere.. She knows she should let go but yet she can't seem to do it. In the transition music after this part is where I think the decision making is taking place. When it goes into the "happy" upbeat melody is where she has decided to let go, and she starts realising the beauty around her. The thing is, after the happy part it continues with a very sombre and sad tune, which seems to suggest that there is still a lot of pain and sadness. So in this sense I don't think the song has a happy ending. Moreover, the fact that it's called Daffodil Lament suggests that the beautiful daffodils are also a symbol of anguish and pain. Knowing this, if you re-listen to the "happy" upbeat melody in the stanzas about the lovely daffodils, there seems to be a desperateness in the rhythm. The rhythm is fast-paced, intense and moreover there is little silence in between the lines; for instance when she repeats "look lovely" there's an echo repeat that intensifies the song. If silence can be said to represent a peacefulness, then the fact that there is so much vocals in the daffodil section might suggest that she still isn't at peace with the decision. Btw, the lines "So lonely, So lonely" also sound like "Say you love me, say you love me" |
KT Tunstall – Miniature Disasters Lyrics | 15 years ago |
this song just shows her maturity as an artist. it shows she has discipline and the ability to take hard knocks but learning to take the smaller knocks and appreciating them for how they grow her. |
Regina Spektor – Fidelity Lyrics | 16 years ago |
if you watch the video you would see that she's celebrating the fact that she let her guard down because now with the guy in her life there's so much colour |
Louis Armstrong – What A Wonderful World Lyrics | 18 years ago |
I've heard this songs many times over. But the time when it most impacted me was when I watched Bowling For Columbine. There was this part in the show where black and white videos and pictures of significant events (often brought about by the US) that led to the deaths of many innocent people. This song played in the background throughout that time. For those of you who watched Bowling For Columbine, I'm sure you would agree it's one of the best parts of the show, though this song was used to achieve irony. |
Mariah Carey – One Sweet Day Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Everyone has a story to tell. Haha. I lost my mom in August this year..She passed away after struggling with cancer for 5 years. I don't exactly regret not telling her things, because I was there when she left and went to heaven (: But I do miss having her around, and sometimes when I'm on the way back on the bus I wish she would be at home and I could greet her. But I know that she loves me and that one day, we'll get to see each other again and spend eternity together. |
Vonda Shepard – Searchin' My Soul Lyrics | 18 years ago |
Oh no. All these foreign languages that I don't understand! Well. This song speaks to me about my spiritual walk with God, and how God is like my light that I can shine to find my way back home! And now I know that with God, everything's gonna be alright (: |
Vonda Shepard – Chances Are Lyrics | 18 years ago |

Alanis Morissette – That I Would Be Good Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this was the first song i listened to after my mom talked to me and my sisters about what she wants to be done if she passes away. she's dying of cancer. |
Jars of Clay – Much Afraid Lyrics | 19 years ago |
This song means a lot to me because it reminds me of the time when I was backsliding. Not that that's a good thing, mind you, but it just encapsulates how I felt at that time perfectly- out of steam and overloaded. Sometime this year, I had to go for vocal auditions to make it into my church's vocal class(not that anyone didn't make it in) and I really hadn't prepared any song, but I managed to settle on this song because it means the most to me of all the christian songs i've heard. To me its content is pretty self-explanatory- sin is overcoming his life and he needs to get out of it by laying his burdens at God's feet. Which is what we forget at times when we try to face our burdens with the strength of a human being. |
Jars of Clay – These Ordinary Days Lyrics | 19 years ago |
i was listening to this cd on my computer when i was feeling rather down and depressed because i felt hard pressed in every direction. i wasn't exactly paying attention to the music, but when i heard the chorus of this song, it made me pause for a moment to remember that He's always there for me, and that he never ever changes even though our emotions tell us otherwise; we just have to turn to him. i love this. |
Aqualung – Strange And Beautiful (I'll Put A Spell On You) Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Describes exactly how I feel about my best guy friend. And the title is so apt. |
Jack Johnson – If I Could Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Oh and the part about 'down the middle drops one more grain of sand', I'm not very sure what it means but I have a hunch that it's refering to either a) the life that's leaving the person b) one more death among the many that have already happened. |
Jack Johnson – If I Could Lyrics | 19 years ago |
Oh! Thanks siblesworth! Initially I always thought that (touch wood!) it was the baby that was in trouble. Are these interviews on his official website? I've always wanted to learn more about the life behind his songs. What a bitter sweet song. The lyrics are kinda screwed up though... |
Jack Johnson – Belle Lyrics | 19 years ago |
I think it's a very intimate and romantic song.. Ahh..it's just like all his songs, they're really great to chill out and cuddle up to! |
Jack Johnson – Banana Pancakes Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song reminds me of cold rainy days when you just want to stay under your blanket the whole day :) it makes me feel alright if i can't finish my tasks at hand like silly homework. ah..if only there was that special someone to cuddle up to and listen to this. this is my favourite part of the song: 'Pretend like there’s no world outside And we could pretend it all the time Can’t you see that it’s just raining There ain’t no need to go outside' |

Sarah McLachlan – I Will Remember You Lyrics | 19 years ago |
this song reminded me of a relationship a year ago that never took off. it brings back regret for me at what could have been. |
Jack Johnson – Cocoon Lyrics | 20 years ago |
I love this song.. Likewise, I can't believe so few people have posted comments on this song! I think it's basically about two people on the rebound and they're using each other to "mend" their "broken hearts", though it seems as if the guy in this case sincerely likes her. Fab song! |
