Arctic Monkeys – The Hellcat Spangles Shalalala Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Pretty much perfectly sums up the change in style from Humbug to Suck It and See. |
Friendly Fires – Live Those Days Tonight Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Yeah loads of the lyrics are wrong, hence why most of the lines here make no sense. |
Friendly Fires – Live Those Days Tonight Lyrics | 13 years ago |
About being too young to live the 80s, people older than you telling you how great everything was back then, but not letting that stop you from having a good time now. |
Los Campesinos! – Who Fell Asleep In Lyrics | 13 years ago |
It's punk and/or cool. |
Los Campesinos! – Straight in at 101 Lyrics | 13 years ago |
Not so much a reference to the series, just like anyone on TV is a talking head. |
Los Campesinos! – 200-102 Lyrics | 13 years ago |
I enjoy the little chart countdown that goes on, 200 to 102, LC! at 101, then later on 100 to 1. Amazing that Romance Is Boring actually charted at 101 on iTunes. |
Tinie Tempah – Miami 2 Ibiza Lyrics | 13 years ago |
AP = Audemars Piguet (a fancy watch) Black BM = a black BMW White TT = Audi TT |
Foals – This Orient Lyrics | 14 years ago |
"Your path, your heart." It's in the album booklet. |
LCD Soundsystem – Dance Yrself Clean Lyrics | 14 years ago |
From the lyrics booklet... Walking up to me expecting words– It happens all the time Present company excepted: Present company, except the worst… It happens every night, Present company excluded every time. Present company: The best that you can find, Talking like a jerk except you are an actual jerk And living proof, that sometimes friends are mean. Present company expect it Present company just laugh it off… It's better than it seems, Present company excluded in every way Present company makes me wanna stay go, Killing it with close inspection. Killing it can only make it worse, It sort of makes it breed, Present company accepting Presently we all expect the worst, It works just like a need. Present company excluded in the night, Present company included in the fight, go, Don't you want me to wake up? Then give me just a bit of your time. Arguments are made for make-ups, So give it just a little more time. We've got to bring the resources, I'm gonna play until the time comes, Forget your string of divorces, Just go and throw your little hands up. It's late, I miss the way the night comes My friends know how to make it feel good The basement has a cold glow, Though better than a bunch of others… So go and dance yourself clean, Go and dance yourself clean, yeah, You're blowing marxism to pieces, Their little arguments to pieces, Show. It's your show. Put your little feet down and hang out. Every night's a different story, It's a thirty car pile-up with you, Everybody's getting younger… It's the end of an era – it's true. And you go: "Stop", Break me into bigger pieces, So some of me is home with you, Wait until the weekend And we can make our dreams come true And it's a go, Yeah it's a go, But if we wait until the weekend, We could miss the best things to do, So go and dance yourself clean, Gotta dance yourself clean, Yeah and blow the marxists into pieces Their little argument to pieces, Wish you'd try a little harder, In the tedious march of the few, Every day a different warning, There's a part of me hoping it's true |
Arctic Monkeys – Who the Fuck Are Arctic Monkeys? Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I like the idea that the "escape" mentioned at the end is Andy leaving the band, seeing as this was the last-recorded song he appeared on. |
Franz Ferdinand – Lucid Dreams (Album version) Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The album booklet says "Beat came from Addis Abylon". Interesting idea though. |
Johnny Foreigner – Salt, Peppa and Spinderella Lyrics | 15 years ago |
moshilops: http://img224.imageshack.us/img224/1294/picture1dj1.png "God" :-) |
Franz Ferdinand – Turn It On Lyrics | 15 years ago |
They've changed the lyrics a bit for the album version. He only sings the first verse once now. 1st verse: "I'm dedicated, yes, I'm a forgiver I'm dedicated, yeah, some kind of giver" Chorus: "I want to know you turn it on, yeah (turn it on) I want to know you turn it on, yeah, turn it on!" Otherwise this is fairly spot on. |
Fall Out Boy – West Coast Smoker Lyrics | 15 years ago |
The obvious reaction to this song is "OH HELL YES" |
Frank Turner – Photosynthesis Lyrics | 15 years ago |
I don't really get the photosynthesis idea.. what does he mean by "And if all you ever do with your life is photosynthesise..."? |
Late of the Pier – VW Lyrics | 15 years ago |
While it is an instrumental, at the end of the album version you can hear Sam shout "Cabbage!" and Potter ask, "Can you smell snacks?". Insightful stuff. |
Arctic Monkeys – Teddy Picker Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's definitely, "don't concern us with your bollocks" - watch the video on TV and it censors the "bollocks". |
Arctic Monkeys – Too Much to Ask Lyrics | 16 years ago |
gilo87: Nope, it is "docked in tempestuous bays". I thought it was what you said for a while but listening closer you can hear a 'd' not an 'l'. Also, the imagery is a lot cleverer (is that a word? =P) - using a boat idea rather than just plain saying it. |
Dan Le Sac VS Scroobius Pip – The Beat That My Heart Skipped Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I tried the intro. "Tattenous" isn't a word though :-( "I ain't gonna take it no more. I ain't gonna take it no more. I ain't gonna stand idly by while the bridal reply of a marriage of stars is "yeah, what's their demographic?" I ain't gonna take it no more. I ain't gonna take it no more. I ain't gonna stand idly by with a tattenous sigh while inside we all cry OUT for something new. I ain't gonna take it no more. I ain't gonna take it no more. Soulless music. Artless lyrics. Goalless movements. Heartless gimmicks. Controlled and clueless. Careers lasting a minute. If this is the big life, well I ain't looking to live it. We ain't pushing the boundaries, we're blowing them up! We ain't trying to expand the scene; we want the scene to erupt. So make some room on the floor and somebody bolt the doors cos tonight we ain't seeking applause. Tonight, well gee… we're just looking to have some good new-fashioned fun, y'all." |
The Coral – Bill McCai Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I really want them to change the words to "Bye bye Bill Ryder-Jones" now that he's left the band :-( |
The Coral – In The Forest Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I love the "You'll never know how much I...you" because we'll never know either, since he hasn't filled in the blank with 'love' or 'hate' or whatever else. Genius. |
Johnny Foreigner – Salt, Peppa and Spinderella Lyrics | 16 years ago |
With the help of the music video, I've pretty much got Alexei's spoken word bit spot on: And at the points between the wait outside and hanging suspended in the air and the room around you is spinning. You'll find the time if you need it. 2,500 miles apart and I never saw it clearer. We played for moments like this. Little sparks, little hits from someone else's God. How hanging out of the 15th storey window has never felt so relaxing. Bring out the real fun. Turn on the real drums. |
Panic! at the Disco – That Green Gentleman (Things Have Changed) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
What is Brendan singing at the chorus at the end (he sings fast in the background)? I know it starts with "well things have changed for me" but I can't get anymore. |
Cajun Dance Party – Yesterday I Lost My Heart Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's on the Japanese version of the album. Might be a future B-side. |
Tokyo Police Club – Centennial Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It can't be a sister "we met cos my parents knew your parents" ... |
Elle Milano – Juliette's Dead Lyrics | 16 years ago |
These are definitely the right lyrics - they're on the EM website. But I like the possible lyric conections to other songs you suggested. |
Justice – DVNO Lyrics | 16 years ago |
youWallflower: I don't know if you werre implying that the line is "dance" cos it's definitely bounce - watch the video! |
Goodbooks – Walk With Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |
They reject the whole "going out" culture - the lines " You won't see me in a crowd / You won't catch me being loud" really show this. Unfortunately this means they become very lonely, which you can really feel from the sound of the verses. He's "looking for an antidote": an alternative to going out where he won't be lonely, but really this is just looking for a person to talk, or indeed "walk with.." |
Cajun Dance Party – No Joanna Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Lovely song. Best on the album. I think the "won all the while" line is "won all the world", and the last line is "but I still see seas within" which is particularly beautiful. No idea about the "second source" thing. |
The Last Shadow Puppets – Only the Truth Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's "Only the truth she reckons she holds" |
Mystery Jets – First to Know Lyrics | 16 years ago |
It's "Wanna be the guy who steps in the way" isn't it? Makes sense with the context. |
Blood Red Shoes – Forgive Nothing Lyrics | 16 years ago |
"Nothing at your sad demise" ? And the I think the last line of the last verse ends with "and you left just fine" I suppose this about a friend who abandoned her. The verses sound quite angry, but then chorus is just her getting over it - "never mind, s/he was a rubbish friend anyway" |
Foals – Tron Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Hah, after seeing the lyrics booklet, I was remarkably close... making changes now. |
Elle Milano – showroom furniture Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Oh man... emotional |
Los Campesinos! – This is how you spell "HAHAHA I've destroyed the hopes and dreams of a generation of faux-romantics" Lyrics | 16 years ago |
And if you don't exist with hearts the size of a house brick! |
Elle Milano – Meanwhile In Hollywood... Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I think it's "marketing" rather than Mark II. Other than that I think you have it spot on. |
Foals – Electric Bloom Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Lies! It was going to be called "The Race for Radio Supremacy", but Yannis changed his mind at the last minute. It's on the official forum, here: http://foals.freeforums.org/question-t393-15.html (look at Edwin's post, he's in the band) And if you don't trust that, look on the official Foals store on their website: http://foals.trinitystreetdirect.com/store/page4.asp?suptype=&t=17&sub_type=15&prod_id=422&col=30 |
Hot Chip – Out at the Pictures Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Seeing as the booklet says the song is for J.D. Wetherspoon, the chorus might well be "Wetherwetherwetherwether..." |
Young Knives – Up All Night Lyrics | 16 years ago |
More logically, I think it's "We're not sleeping; we are staying up all night" |
Foals – The French Open Lyrics | 16 years ago |
That's not what quite what I hear. I hear lots of variations on the English part, and here they are: Wasting games, waiting games, rackets and gadgets! Waiting games, wasting games, rackets and gadgets! Waste away, wasting games, rackets and gadgets! Wasting games, waiting games, racket! Wasting games, waste away, rackets and gadgets! Wasting games, just wasting games, racket! |
Elle Milano – Laughing All the Way to the Plank Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Sounds like he worked at IKEA for a bit... |
Lightspeed Champion – Tell Me What It's Worth Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Definite lyrics (from the abum booklet): Crack open the good times on a street corner busting rhymes But you fell between the lines They all laugh, become a joke, am I crazy baby? Let's all hope For narrow halls and crunching drums, I got the sweets sugar but that's all Tell me what it's worth So tell us that we're spelling everything wrong, and Negroes turn a blueish-grey when they're dead That's funny cos I've just turned bright red! Kill, kill, kill when everything starts to suck, drowning all your sins, well I guess that's bad luck And the fact that your race is full of shit, I got the sweets sugar but that's it Clean your blades, start swinging, don't stop until the red runs out Until no more joy pours out your mouth |
Lightspeed Champion – Midnight Surprise Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Here are the definite lyrics (from the lyric booklet): Shoot me into sleep, your beauty is so close to me And even better still, warm nights and the chill Creeping down my bones, reminds me I'm alone My sweet midnight surprise, staple down my eyes Stars I cannot see, take me galaxy Deeper in the zone, 2-player combo mode Creeping down my bones, reminds me I'm alone My sweet midnight surprise, staple down my eyes Stars I cannot see, take me galaxy Ejacquantumbreeze! And even better still, warm nights and the chill Creeping down my bones, reminds me I'm alone My sweet midnight surprise, staple down my eyes Stars I cannot see, take me galaxy Deeper in the zone, 2-player combo mode Creeping down my bones, reminds me I'm alone My sweet midnight surprise, staple down my eyes Stars I cannot see, take me galaxy Ejacquantumbreeze! Even in the sea Replace all meaning - "I-spy" Fuck, I think she just saw me, stop hiding in the sea Shit, my midnight surprise has found out all my lines Crunch time, night time, palm luxuries which I mistake for life Don't talk to me, stay away unless you want me near you I'm waiting in silence and cloaking my violence You, almost encourage my happiness, but I know best Wake up, smell the semen, this will never happen for you Evil waits inside your home and shakes you through and through Oh, wake up princess I guess, deep down, my heart is not as pure as it was And my food is ruined, the freezer doorway to above I'll fire in the sun, I'm dying just for fun And what is left of this? My fare is calling down for you all to go away, forget the fall exists I'll fire in the sun, I'm dying, just for fun As I lay in bed, wrapped in cold sweat, just take me now Shoot me into sleep... |
Blood Red Shoes – Try Harder Lyrics | 16 years ago |
To be fair to the original poster, he posted the lyrics to the demo version. For the album they changed it about a bit. |
Lightspeed Champion – Midnight Surprise Lyrics | 16 years ago |
On his "track-by-track" blog on MySpace, Dev says that he made up the word in the chorus, which is 'Ejaquantumbreeze'. |
Lightspeed Champion – Tell Me What It's Worth Lyrics | 16 years ago |
I'm pretty sure it's "the good times", he just pronounces time funny... also "bustin' rhymes" |
Los Campesinos! – My Year in Lists Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Wow, that guitar riff after the "cherish with fondness" bits is amazing! It's a shame it's so short. |
Foals – Cassius (Promo Version) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
As stupid as it sounds, I swear I hear "Cassius these daydreams, these daydreams are gay" |
Justice – D.A.N.C.E. Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Haha, now I see the whole Michael Jackson thing, I just laughed out loud at the line "neither black nor white"... |
The Cribs – Another Number. Lyrics | 16 years ago |
Ryan Jarman confirmed that it's ROW not ROAD on the Cribs forum. |
